[SOLVED]Port forwarding Issues

Hey guys, i created account just to ask this question which has been bothering me since a long time. My router is DIR-605L Hardware version: b1 and firmware version: 2.06. I'm from India and purchased in india itself. So, i have been trying to port forward specific ports (esp for counter strike and halo games). I followed each and every procedure i read from internet, but it never worked. I checked from http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ page, it showed as port is closed on my public ip. Someone please help me fix this. Thanks in advance.

Assuming the port forwarding is configured correctly, the other 3 things to check are the modem/gateway you have connected to the Dlink, any firewall/antivirus on the PC and if the ISP blocks them.

What ports are you trying to forward?

What do you have connecting to the Dlink for your ISP?

Who is your ISP?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
  • What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
  • What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?

Thanks for the reply. I am using act fiber net. I don't know how what modem/gateway it was connected to. Ours is broadband and the fiber cable is connected to router. I turned off firewall  in pc as well as in router. I also tried dmz setting, but didn't work too. I am forwarding 27015 port which is used for halo game. I tried different ports for other games too, but not didn't get it to work.

Ours is broad band using fiber net technology. It has fiber cable connected to router.
Im sorry but I don't know what isp modem mfr. And model no. Is. Should I contact isp for those information? Thanks for replying.

Checking to see if there is NAT on the ISP modem/ONT fiber connection. Single NAT condition is preferred with the NAT being on the 605L and not the ISP service.

I'm sorry but I didn't get it. There is no interface for our isp modem. Only thing I have access to is routers webpage. And it doesn't have nat setting. It only has port forwarding rules which I configured properly.

To check NAT, look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field then the ISP has NAT, if there is a ##.##.###.### address listed there then the DIR router has NAT.

Just now checked. There are two columns in device info section. One is LAN and other is Internet. IP address in lan has 192.168.0.1 and in internet, it is xx.xxx.xxx.xxx. So the router has NAT. Will you kindly tell what else should i look for?

I will try that. BTW will you please tell me if there is any additional setting i need to change in router to make it work? So far, i forwarded ports for my laptops ip address, disabled upnp, spi and enabled multicast streaming. I disabled firewall before checking whether port forwarding actualy worked. So far, no luck  :-\

Edit: Checked it while port is opened. It is still showing as closed  >:(

If you connect your computer directly into the ONT, do you get online? Also, what IP do you get then? It sounded like you said it was a 192.x.x.x range. If so, the device is doing NAT which needs to be bypassed, or configured.

What is the model number of the ONT? I tried looking on Act Fibernet's support site, but they don't seem to have one. I think more info from ISP is required before troubleshooting.

Sorry for the late response. I checked in my ISP act site faq and this was mentioned when asked about whether we need modem to use internet "Since, ACT Fibernet uses fiber-to-the-home technology it doesn’t require any modem or a land-line phone. It’s a plug and play connection which could be utilised just by connecting it with a computer." There's no modem used in my connection. The wire is directly connected to router and a lan cable which is connected to home PC. I am using laptop using wifi. And as for ip address, i am attaching a screenshot taken from my routers page. Yea, your not getting a public IP from your ISP. So your fiber ONT has a router in it.  Either you need to get them to turn that off, or put your Dlink router in AP moded and do the port forwarding in the ONT. The private IP is breaking the port forwarding.
