Volume_1 is not accessible
« on: March 05, 2015, 02:55:45 PM »

Hi, having a recurring issue that I have been unable to resolve.

My sharecenter is setup as Volume_1 and Volume_2.

Volume_2 has our kid's movies, and Volume_1 has parent's movies. We use a WDTV box to stream to the TV.

I have setup Volume_1 to be accessible only by a specific user. However, when I try and access that drive on our PC I get a not accessible error. (See attached image).

The only way we can access the drive is to remove the specific user access to the drive in the browser's sharecenter which defeats the purpose. The entire reason for buying the DNS was to limit our kids access to things appropriate to their age.

I assume there is something I'm doing incorrectly. The dlink.ca site is full of dead links, and zero direct support is available for this product there. I am hopeful someone here can help.

Please advise what other information you may need to assist.

Thank you in advance!!!!

Did you create a network map of the volume to your PC along with the relevant user login credentials?

It won't allow me to map the drive. It states that it is already mapped, I'm assuming because Volume_2 is mapped.

If I remove the user restriction, I am able to map both drives but am back at square 1.

Did you try creating a network map from the Windows OS using the DNS-325 IP address? Volume_1 and Volume_2 have two distinct address paths.
  • Right-Click My Computer and select Map network drive
  • enter the DNS-325 IP address:  \\[IP_ADDRESS]\Volume_1\
