DNS-325 - HDD Configuration Issue
« on: May 09, 2014, 12:38:05 PM »

I made all the 4TB HDDs red so they stand out (i.e. easier to see on the list).

I just bought it and installed the disks. I have firmware 1.03. Even though I can select RAID 1 it sets up two separate 4TB volumes. One on each disk. Any tips/clues?

Thank you.

My first question to you is whether the DNS-325 is intended as a primary storage and backup. If that's the case, then RAID-1 is not the best choice.

Please see the following threads:

As far as the RAID-1 configuration is concerned, first log into the web UI and navigate to MANAGEMENT > System Status > System Info > Volume Information. How many volumes are listed? What is the Volume Type for the volume(s)?

My need is for redundancy. I backup to the cloud.

Also I have updated to 1.04.

The info shown is the following:

Volume Name   Volume_1
Volume Type   Standard
Total Hard Drive Capacity   3665.59 GB
Used Space   196 MB
Unused Space   3665.4 GB

Volume Name   Volume_2
Volume Type   Standard
Total Hard Drive Capacity   3665.59 GB
Used Space   196 MB
Unused Space   3665.4 GB
