Ended up being out of the house almost all weekend. No spare time to sit down w/ my laptop & router. :(
Should be home all evening today. Shoot for 8pm Central time?

Per Charter support rep: MAC cloning is NOT required. They rent out Netgear routers, and she had never heard of anyone having to use the MAC clone feature. She also told me that her personal router (a Netgear purchased outside of Charter) doesn't require MAC cloning.

I'm stumped.

Ok, I've asked for some feedback from D-Link.
I can only remember one experience with MAC Cloning and that was at my dads place in KY, he had a Arris modem and I want to say Charter ISP as well. I think. When I visited and installed a wireless router, I had to MAC Clone the router to get the PC and wireless to work.

Things may have changed I presume and thanks for posting what charter said.

I would recommend this if you can and have a local place to buy routers from that has a refund policy, either D-Link or something else, try a different router say for a few days. If this different router doesn't need MAC Cloning then we'll know that there could be a problem with the 605L.

I'll post back when I hear back from D-Link.

Sadly, I've had zero time to work on this. Been busy.
I'm going to see if my modem has a MAC address on it and try that. Maybe it'll work?

Understand about the work thing man. No worries, was just curious.

Please review the links. I got that from D-Link the night we remoted. I believe that should fix this issue.

Keep us posted. Good Luck.

So I tried using the modem's MAC address, and it didn't work. Wireless connection was totally dead. Had to go back to using my laptop's MAC address. I'm about ready to give up and admit defeat here. This whole thing makes no sense. Sigh.

You need to clear the Modems MAC address binding so that you don't have to use Mac Clone on the router. We believe thats the only thing thats causing this...

I can give that a try next week. I'll be out of town for a few days, so I'll be able to disconnect things and give it a chance to reset.
