DCS933L wifi reconnection issue
« on: November 13, 2015, 11:51:26 AM »

I have configured my camera to get connected to my wifi router wirelessly. Once the camera is switches (wifi router also switched on before), the camera gets connected to the wifi and I am able to view the live video stream on the dlink app and access the camera remotely (green LED behind the camera keeps flashing). Now, when I turn off my router, the camera obviously looses out the connection to the wifi and a red light starts flashing at the back. Now, I turn on my wifi again, but the camera doesn't reconnect and the red light keeps flashing. I have to power cycle the camera to get connected to the wifi network again. How can I make the camera reconnect to the wifi after loosing the signal initially ?

Link>Welcome!

  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the DCSs web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?
What is the distance between the Camera and the main host router?
I recommend setting a static IP address ON the cameras outside of the main host routers default DHCP IP address pool: 192.168.#.93
DHCP

Test the camera with uPnP and uPnP Port Forwarding both enabled on the cameras: DCS Cloud (L) Series Camera Configuration and Mydlink.com

This is how I have my 933L set up

Hy!!
I have same problem with 2 pcs DCS-933L cameras!
If the router (i test more router!) wifi connection lost more than 1-2 minute, the camera (933L 2pcs) dont reconnection! And the extender modes of  the cameras automatically turn on with ssid DCS-933L-last 4 characters of macaddress.
If i cut power and plug in again and camera restart, everything will be fine, the cameras connected the wifi router, extender mode is off.
I did a full factory reset. the problem is same!
HW version A1
Firmware lastest publicated firmware.
Location Europe.
I dont speak english but i hope you understand what i wrote.
Thanks!

What wireless modes are you using on the main host router?

You can set a manual Static IP address on the cameras thats out side of the main host routers default DHCP IP address pool, i.e. 192.168.#.93/.94 or .33 and .34 and test.

I use single mode N or Mixed G/N, WPA2/AES only on my routers. Channel 11.

I use N mode wpa2 aes also
Channel is 10
I use static ip addresses
10.0.0.52 and 10.0.0.53 2 pcs cameras
Static IP 10.0.0.4 gateway router.
If wifi is continous then no problem, cameras not drop wifi automatically, but if wifi signal interrupted because was the blackout or unplug/plug for router, than not reconnection the cameras.

Try channels 1, 6 or 11. 10 is a side band over lap channel.

I changed, i using channel 11 now, but problem same. I unplug the router power, i wait 1-2 minute, after the cameras automatically turn on extender mode and start broadcast "dcs-933l-macaddreess last 4 characters" but i did not setting this, after i plug the router to power and cameras not reconnecting only after hard restart!
Control led flashes in orange color!
Is This not fw bug?
Other idea?

Try this, disable WPA on the main host router temporarily. Use OPEN security on the router. Ensure the 933L is configured to see the OPEN SSID name. Then test again. Does the camera reconnect after the router being off for 2 minutes?

Maybe or maybe how it's designed if loss if signal for more than 2 minutes, it provides a way to connect to the camera to reconfigure it. You might phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask about this behavior.
