DIR-880L -> dlink firmware -> dd-wrt firmware -> dlink firmware
« on: November 30, 2015, 12:48:09 PM »

Is it possible to take a DIR-880L back to the dlink firmware after it was taken to the DD-WRT firmware?

I presume it should be. You need to refer to the DD-WRT site for information on how to do this. They should have information there on putting OEM FW back on to routers.

Ah ok.  I wasn't sure how much to read into the D-Link assertions about it being DD-WRT compatible.  Sounds like their stance is hands off or your on your own.

Mostly if DD-WRT supports and develops FW for D-Link routers, DD-WRT should have the support and information for it. Can be discussed here however if something happens, Ya, your at your own risk. I presume if you follow instructions, Go too and coming back from DD-WRT should be a good experience.

Indeed it is possible, I can confirm.

Is it possible to take a DIR-880L back to the dlink firmware after it was taken to the DD-WRT firmware?

Can I ask why you are wanting to go back to D-Link from DD-WRT?  I was thinking of going TO DD-WRT due to all the limitations of the stock FW.

Was it not stable or did you notice any issues?

There are known issues with WRT FW that have been recently resolved. Mainly getting WRT loaded on to the router was a problem causing boot loop issues or the router not coming to ready correctly. Also WRT can be and is complex in it's setup and UI which some users find a bit much for some users. Also there is usually monthly FW builds there so there's is ever changing and being updated.

You can load WRT on yours if you wish. Please refer to the DD-WRT forum for help and information regarding there FW. There is a specific user there that helps with WRT FW on a few D-Link routers including the 880L
