I have a pair of 2630L cameras at a remote location. I'm unable to set up the video clip option. When remotely accessing advanced settings through myDlink.com I have the choices of Motion, Schedule, Always, and Sound. I'm trying to have it send me video clips on a motion trigger. If I leave the pulldown menu set to Always it will take my settings and will very frequently send me short video clips. If I choose any other selection and click SAVE it will fail with "417 - Expectation Failed". Similarly, if I try do uncheck the Video Clip checkbox I also get the error. The only way I can stop the camera from continuously sending me video clips is to put a bad password in the email settings while selecting ALWAYS.
Pulling from a web site to explain this error:
417 Status Code Explained
The 417 status code means that the server was unable to properly complete the request. The server cannot meet the requirements of the Expect request-header field.
Why it occurs
The Expect request-header field is used to indicate that particular server behaviors are required by the client. The server could not execute these expectations. One of the headers sent to the server, the "Expect" header, indicated an expectation the server could not meet.
Fixing 417 Error Code
The problem can only be resolved by examining what the client is trying to do and then discussing with your ISP why the Web server fails the 'Expect' request sent by the client system. If you are monitor your website through 100pulse, we will intimate whenever you encounter 417 status code error through e-mail or Short message service.
Note that my DSL connection at the remote site is only a 1Mb/s connection though my connection here in the states is very fast. I don't know if the slow connection has something to do with it but it sounds like it has something to do with communication/timing between my remote 2630L camera and the myDlink server.
If the problem is in the myDlink server then I might be able to work around it by adding port forwarding in my router to my cameras to resolve the issue. Won't have the opportunity to try that for about a month. In the mean time does anyone have any ideas?
