Hi,

Thanks for setting up this thread....Wasn't sure where to post feedback on the new v1.20 Beta

So far my only issue, as posted elsewhere, is the Schedule Editing issue.  When I tried to change the time on one of my schedules, it popped up an Invalid Time Error, which it shouldn't have done.

Network printing works fine for me....as others had reported issues with the initial v1.20 release.

I am having the same problem with the new beta that I had with the release version that was pulled - printer sharing is horribly slow from a Vista client to the print server that is also running Vista.  XP clients print fine.  Reverting to 1.11 is also fine.  I hope that this bug is fixed before the final release of 1.20, because I really like the Guest Zone feature.

I've noticed two minor things-

#1-That MSXML 5.0 Active X notification message that doesn't work.
#2-Can't look at the logs-just get this message-"please wait! while logs are being received..."
for the last hour!!  :o

Same issue here with the printing...

#2-I had this issue when I let the MSXML notification install the active x component.  The only way I could fix it was to do a reset of IE (Tools>Internet Options>Advanced-Reset Button at bottom - IE7) this deleted the active X control and the logs came back as normal. If you are running Vista DO NOT install the 5.0 version.  Vista is already running the 6.0 version and you just need to ignore the notification message.

ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/dir655/Firmware/

Why is dir655_firmware_120_beta.zip and dir655_us_firmware_120_beta.zip contain the same exact firmware (CRC32 is the same for the firmware file inside each zip)?

Also still suffering from what I believe to be horrible "N" performance due to the "Good neighbour" feature.

If my next door neighbor has a "mr rebooty" like my old D-Link DI-624 that rebooted nonstop, since it is considered a powering up AP, that would make my DIR-655 downgrade to 20MHz instead of 40MHz for no good reason.  I want my 270mbps back...

Hi all....

Tried the 1.20 beta for 2 days. I've since gone back to the 1.11MS beta.

Please note I am using Atheros 7.6.0.239 drivers for my Dlink wireless-N NIC (because this solves a number of issues I was having using Dlink's driver - among them the worst was random periods of packet loss while gaming).

I found that everything worked well for me with the 1.20 but there was a distinct drop in performance. File transfer using windows sharing from a wired server to my wireless client dropped from ~4 Mb/s to ~2 Mb/s with, when other network traffic was flying around, stutter-y performance - i.e. drops to say 50 kb/s one second, then 2 meg/s the next. (Using NetMeter)

If this was improved I would move to 1.20 - I noticed also there are 8 level of wireless priority now. I was doing OK with 4 but 8 gives a bit more room! Or if anyone can comment on what wireless-N performance is like using Dlink's NIC drivers - because maybe this is different now...

Hi,

As a follow up to my earlier post about the Schedules Issue, it now seems as tho not only can you not edit an existing schedule, but the existing schedule, seemingly once editied "incorrectly" is now out of synch with the time clock of the router.

The item in question here was set to run from 10:15 PM to 10:30 AM and block access for a couple stations during that time.  Tonite when those stations were trying to go online at 8:10 PM, they were fully blocked.  In order for them to get online, I had to disable the Access Control item for that Policy.

Has anybody else seen this ?

Hi,

Pending some sort of repair for the schedules function(s), I have had to revert back to the 1.11msBeta I was formerly using.  I will hopefully be able to go back to the new 1.20 once they fix it.

I've noticed I cannot set or change the default empty password for admin.  Tried twice and every time I do, the 655 gives me an error message "Nothing has changed, save anyway"?  When I save, I momentarily lose connectivity and then it's restored.  Then I go back to 192.168.0.1 and try to log in with the changed password and get "Invalid password, please try again"

[edit]  After changing the password, it doesn't become effective until you reboot the router.  Why is a reboot now necessary for a passwor change?

The other thing I noticed is I no longer connect at 300mbit.  Prior to the upgrade from 1.11 to 1.20b7, I was connected at 300mbit/100% quality.  I'm using a DWA-652 wireless adapter.  The other fun tidbit is I was running the router on Low wireless power and getting that result.  But now I've bumped it up to High power and have no better result.  It's like something disabled the 40mhz channel.  I'm stuck at 130mbit.

[edit]  To give more information.  I'm in 802.11g/n mode, WPA2/AES encryption, the only wireless device on my network is a DWA-652, auto channel, auto transmission mode, no guest network, and I did verify all 3 of the antennae are properly screwed in. :)

My 655 is HW A2, FW 1.20b7.
