Is portforwarding broken in DIR-809?
« on: April 11, 2018, 10:54:22 AM »

I have tried for several hours to get portforwarding to work in Dlink DIR-809.

I have tried:
* Firmware update from 1.08 to 1.11
* Virtual server
* Port forwarding
* HTTP port 80
* FTP and FTPS
* Disable SPI, UPnP, Multicast Stream
* Enable DMZ
* Open up ports 80, 20-21, 12000- 12100
* Verified ISP is not block ports
* Port forwarding worked with old Dlink 620 (but problem with Android phones)

This is my router:
Product: DIR-809
Firmware Version:   1.11
Hardware Version:   A3

Here are my portfoward setting:

Any clues how to fix port forwarding? I am seriously doubting if port forwarding really works in DIR-809

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?
  • Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?
  • Has a Factory Reset been performed?
  • Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch?
  Link> >FW Update Process

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
  • What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
  • What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
Built in router by chance?

If your setting up PF rules, uPnP needs to be disabled. DMZ should not be enabled for this.
Why are you trying to PF port 80?
Why are you setting up PF rules?  FTP services?

* I live in Sweden
* ISP modem is Connection technoloy system is wired connected to D-809. Connection is fibre. Not sure about model name.
* I think ISP modem has router, but no firewall. (previous Dlink 620 worked fine with this modem)
* 192.168.0.78 ( server to be forwarded to) is on wireless
* No factory reset has been made (do no want to set all settings again)
* I am trying port 80 https becuease it is easiest to test after changing setting in router
* I want FTPS to my server accesible from outside my LAN

what IP address is the 809 getting from the modem?
IF the modem has a router built in, this may present a double NAT condition. Need to establish a single NAT configuration with the 809.
Link>Double NAT and How NAT Works.
Does the modem have a DMZ feature by chance?

How are you determining the 809 is not working for the ports? Have you actively using the ports on the LAN side and testing from the WAN side for port status and accessibility?

The modem is controlled by ISP and I cannot change its configuration by myself.

As stated before, all  ports are forwarded from modem when trying with previous D-link router.

When I access the website locally at 192.168.0.78 (LAN) and it works. When accessing it from my external IP address (WAN) then I get no reply on HTTP, FTP nor FTPS.

Are there some more settings expect UPnP tyo get port forward to work?

If you have Port Forwarding enabled, you'll need to disable uPnP.

I disabled UPnp, still port forwarding is not working.

Ipadress from ISP is sent by message to you.

Could multi cast stream affect portforwarding?

Ok, just checking to make sure you had a public IP address.

You can see if disabling multi cast and see. I doubt it and it shouldn't effect anything.

This is something that you may need to get in contact with your regional D-Link support office...

I contacted D-link office and with some help I got it to work.

Here are my findings:
* Dlik-809 does NOT allow portforwarding when going from LAN to WAN to LAN which my old router did. This is not really an issue, but when debugging it it was an issue for me as I thought it did not work
* UPnP must be disabled fort port forwarding (explaining why it did not from beginning when acessing from WAN to LAN side)

Just disabling UPnp and then instead of testing portforwarding from my laptop which is inside LAN I used mobile phone to test the port forwarding.
