DIR-868L - First Impressions
« on: May 13, 2013, 09:01:28 AM »

After using the DIR-868L for several days now, I can say that this router performs much better than my legacy DIR-857. The web UI is much more responsive and user friendly (less forced reboots). Connectivity with the 5GHz radio (N) is far more stable with distance than the DIR-857, which may be attributed to the amplified signal strength.

So far so good!  ;)

I too, like the 5Ghz radio and the snappy UI. The need for Reboot later or it auto reboots only seems to be seen on QoS changes. There maybe other features that require the Auto Reboot. Other then that, making changes on the router goes into effect as soon as the Save Settings is selected. Let us know how your 2.4ghz does in your heavy WiFi congested area.  :o

I got my 868L and 865L in bridged bode to the 5500. Will see how it does with xbox and gaming. Initial configuration was a bit quirky however after figuring out that the bridges IP address changes from .50 to what ever it gets from the main host router. I think I have it figured out. Both xboxes are OPEN NAT. Mixed modes on 5Ghz using WPA2/AES only.

I must say I am impressed with the performance increase over my DIR-825. The range is better in both the 5/2.4ghz settings. Definitely a worth while upgrade!
