New to NAS uses and looking for apps for my 340L
« on: January 21, 2016, 03:04:33 PM »

Hi there, this is my first NAS box a 340L and have a few questions if i may?

Been tinkering and found i can sync my dropbox account to my NAS, this works finew but my
phone has more pictures than my dropbox allows. Can i bypass dropbox and automatically upload
directly to my NAS?  Ideally with my phones data or wifi.

Is it possibly to unzip or unrar a file on the box itself?  I doenloaded Transmission but i think
it needs to download the file to auto unzip it?  No option to manually unzip without using
a pc to control it.

before i bought it i spotted the jdownloader addon but now i actually have the box i cannot
register on the site to download it?

I use jdownloader a lot and it would be great if the NAS can download and unpack my
files with the PC off.
Unzipping files really lags my PC.

Probably more that i have forgotten.  Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

Can't help with Dropbox but I can transfer files from mobile direct to NAS
The easiest way is to use ES File Explorer File Manager https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop&hl=en on mobile - go to Network and search devices - login to NAS (remember password etc) and just cut or copy and paste.

Unzipping and unrar see next subject

JDownloader is available to download from vtverdohleb's site  http://dlink.vtverdohleb.org.ua/Add-On/ - it's free to register but let me explain...
vtverdohleb makes all these addons himself with no financial support from DLink and he only asks for donations to make this hobby workable (if you understand me)
Once installed JDownloader automatically extracts archive files - well it does for me anyway.

Now as you state you're knowledgeable on JDownloader maybe you can help me...  ;)
Most download links work through JDownloader except links from http://rapidrar.com/ - all I get are loads of crap (looks like either the page itself or advertisements - can you help?

I tried registering for the addon site but it wouldnt let me, just spotted something
about the app author not being supported? and not allowing new registrations?

The rapidrar link is probably not the true link to the download file, its like a
safelink where the genuine link is hidden from prying eyes. Possibly need
a premium account or maybe the server is busy or it didnt track properly.

Sometimes i find right clicking add url gets a better result with safelinked
urls.

Thanks.

MyDLink app not the best or easiest to use and only allows AFAIK access to the folders/files on the NAS

Open ES File Explorer File Manager - look for 3 bars top left to view menu - click Network - all devices on your LAN should be there - tap the IP of your NAS it should then ask for login id and password (if set) - from there you can make specific folders favs

if you need more - just ask

Regarding vtverdohleb's site - did you register new ?  try here  http://dlink.vtverdohleb.org.ua/Add-On/register.php

We'll talk more about my problem once you're fixed and happy

OK, maybe they were updating or have issues with new registrations early
hours of the morning. Just tried again and i got the confirmation email
almost instantly.
Maybe the PlusNet IP i was on had been banned?  Maybe it was just me
doing it wrong  :)   Thanks, now registered.

My network doesnt appear on my ES explorer list?

Is there an APP that will allow me access the NAS whilst out and about?

Thanks.

OK after some tinkering and not forgetting to enable file sharing on the phone  ;)    i can send
files to the NAS over the home WIFI.

How to achieve the same results over data?

Having issues with installing Jdownloader on the NAS, Installed Java8 first then JD, run it and it opens
a browser window interface where i can see my download list. JD is running in a VM which basically
is like another computer.

I was expecting to be able to set a download and then switch off the PC and it continues on the NAS?

But it just seems to have changed the directory on my computers JD install and launched that instead.
Instead of C:/mydownload folder its now C:\mnt....

Maybe because JD is already running?  Or have i done something wrong?

Thanks.

To get JD running
Ensure both Java and JD both show RED stop - meaning they are running in "Addon - Management"

(Just little advisory when installing new addons I find it best to reboot the NAS each time)

If both RED go to Application window click JD add your email / password and then click Launch Interface
 - This is where it gets confusing because I use Chrome browser and have the JD extn -
but after launching a new browser page should open - click the wrench and select JDownloader@nobody << unless my system is setup incorrectly that's where links are added - then I have to move links to "Download"
once downloading I can power off pc

I can send links from mobile/tablet/androidtv box to JD at anytime without PC running

Yeah the APPs are running and enabled, i login and choose the JD@nobody I may have renamed that?

But it goes directly to my download list, instead of downloading to the NAS it acts like a remote
to me PC and starts the download on my PC. Maybe because i run JD in a VMWare window?

If not it seems to be working backwards  :)
