Raid5 - 4x2TB - Trouble.
« on: March 01, 2013, 03:36:36 AM »

Hello guys,

I used my DNS-343 with 4x1TB Samsung HDD's and all was perfect, recently i upgraded the HDD's to 4x2TB and got some issue that stuck me.

Firmware is 1.05 and models of HDD's are :

Western Digital Black -> WD2002FYPS-02w3b0

The problem i found that after NAS get filled with 1.xTB of data there is error msg that NAS doesn't have enough space but in info i clearly see almost 5TB free space, even when i format it and start from begining to fill it up again after 1.x TB i got again this msg.

Any suggestions ? tryied to rebuild array and formatted the nas.

Please explain what do you mean when you say you upgraded the HDDs from 1TB to 2TB.

Did you remove all four 1TB HDDs and create a new RAID-5 array with four 2TB HDDs? or did you incrementally replace each 1TB HDD with a 2TB HDD?

I removed all previous and put new ones, and created new Raid 5 array with 4x2TB.

Upon array creation i choose EXT3. Users/Quaota FTP/Itunes etc all those are off.

p.s : Volume Name:    Volume_1
Volume Type:  RAID 5
Sync Time Remaining:  Completed
Total Hard Drive Capacity:  5900643 MB
Used Space:  195 MB
Unused Space:  5900447 MB

but when i want to move there 1.2TB data from backup, it threw me error msg not enough space.
