I notice 2 strange thing after i upgrade the DNS-323.
1 - Printserver not working (i re-map my printer under my laptop who have winXP, and under my desktop who have Vista).
2 - The DNS name seem not working under Vista. But still working unde WinXP.
Here a list of what i done :
- I reset the DNS to factory default, and reinstall manually the config (recreate every thing, username,..)
- I clear the print queue
- I disconnect the printer (power down) and reconnect
- I shutdown the NAS and restart
- I manually enter the DNS name into my router (Linksys with DD-WRT code on it)
- The DNS name still working under WinXP (i can ping the name and get the IP resolved), but it's not working under vista
- My NAS still have the same NAME and IP since V1.03
- I successfully map the NAS under Vista only with IP name (net use x: \\192.168.x.x\Volume_1\my_folder_name /username:theusername password)
- I successfully map the NAS under WinXP using IP or DNS (replace the 192.168 with the DNS name).
My printer are a cheap DELL Laserjet 1100 printer.... it's a very basic printer, nothing else.
is there something to fixe this ? first, fix the printer issue, and later, fix the DNS issue under Vista ????

Good news... if i downgrade to v1.03, everything i lost start working again :
- DNS name working, so i can MAP using the DNS name
- PrintServer working.
So, V1.04 broke the printserver and the DNS

I think this problems will stay there for a while ...
In case i did'nt tell, i test the "clear print job" ... and also restet to factory default without fix the problems.

What are you running as a DNS server?

Linksys WRT-54GS V4 and WRT-54GL V1.1 (i try both) with DD-WRT23SP2 firmware on it.
note : lost the DNS name are not an issue for me, but it was nice to have it before lost it. Lost the printer are an issue
