DNS-605L - Physical Design
« on: February 10, 2013, 07:24:06 AM »

I just finished unpacking a new DIR-605L, and although I appreciate the small form-factor the physical design has a significant flaw.

The power cord port is located (very tightly) between the rear Internet port and antennae. Since the power cord employs a dog-ear design, the only way to attach the power cord is to point the dog-ear straight up, causing the power cord to stand up above the router and loop back down.  The cord can't twist left or right due to the Internet port and antennae. If the cord is pointed down, the rear of the router lifts off the surface.

It does look like a tight fit thought.  :-\

Short of posting an image, I can say that the dog-ear is ~1 inch wide, which completely blocks the Internet port when turned to the left; and due to the antennae can't even turn to the right. When faced down, the dog-ear lifts the router off the surface.

I think it would be a good idea to forward this to DLink. Seem that someone didn't think of what physical connector to use. Most DLink power connectors are straight and not angled. This one probably uses the same angled power connector that the DIR-601 series uses.  :-\
