No sub-forum/section for DSL modems. How come?
« on: January 17, 2012, 10:46:51 AM »

Since last week I'm an owner of ADSL2+ DSL modem by D-Link - DSL-520B.
I have noticed that there is no sub-forum/section dedicated to DSL modems at all.  It would be nice if there was one as I was searching for some information when I was setting my new modem up.  I could not find it on dlink's forums though.  I had to resort to external resource.  In addition I have ended up calling dlink support line.
I would definitely be interested in seeing some posts/threads regarding the set-up of the above mentioned device, i.e.:
- switching DSL-520B from the default routing to mode to bridging mode
- default "admin", "support" and "user" passwords
- etc.

I guess we (the owners of the said device) deserve to be treated better than we currently are, i.e. ignored.

I wouldn't say not ignored, just misplace. I have mentioned this to D-Link. Unfortunately D-Link has other fires to work with and adding more forums for more products may come later on. At least you do have a place to come and post your questions. Post away.

Okay,
Let's start with two "Stickies":
- switching DSL-520B from the default routing to mode to bridging mode - posting this guide is the minimum d-link should do as I could not find that information in the user's manual

- default "admin", "support" and "user" passwords - and by that I mean all these 3 user's password; admin is in guide/pdf manual - it's "admin"; find the other 2 users' password though - good luck with that; since all that talk about securing our devices this information should be easily available so users can take action, i.e. change all users' default passwords.  I have figured it out after half an hour of searching and trying that:
-- "admin" default password is "admin" (that is the only one listed in the manual)
-- "support" user has the same password as "admin" = "admin"
-- "user" - password is "user" from what I remember

Bridging is located in the product manual.
