ftp://ftp2.dlink.com/PRODUCTS/DSR-250/REVA/DSR-250_REVA_FIRMWARE_v3.12_WW.zip includes separate files for "intermediate" and "common" FW updates
The release notes say, Select the corresponding intermediate and common firmware version for upgrade process.
Does the "AND" in the sentence mean I have to first install the intermediate update or can I just go with uploading the common FW right on? There are different intermediate versions for different hardware revisions, but just one "common".
In other words, what does "intermediate" really mean here?
-
Yes, the AND implies to install both (intermediate first, then common). If you get a FAIL while upgrading, skip it and update to the common file. The Intermediate i believe added encryption to the firmware file.
A1 - A4 had minor chipset changes thus the reason some need the intermediate first and the others dont.
What revision is yours? If you have any issues with upgrading let me know.

A2. v1.09 which was from 4 years ago. ::)

1.09?? You cannot go directly to 3.12. You have to update to 2.01 first which adds the new UI. Then update to 2.11. Then update to 3.11, then the latest. Sorry you will be busy for a while...
All the firmware can be found at tsd.dlink.com.tw (http://tsd.dlink.com.tw). Use the firmware with WW (world wide). The RU version is for russian units only.

ftp://ftp2.dlink.com/PRODUCTS/DSR-250/REVA/DSR-250_REVA1_FIRMWARE_2.11_WW.ZIP doesn't seem to include the FW for the A2 hardware revision

I will probably go with the RU version since my understanding is staying with the RU will not wipe the WAN settings, so I am likely to be able to do the whole thing remotely via TeamViewer.
