Title: Windows File Sharing / Samba - Insufficient system resources - Cant Map USB
Post by: doorsout on June 04, 2015, 08:46:41 AM
I sometimes get the following error when i attempt to access the shared USB drive on the router:   (error is a popup on my Windows 7 computer)

"Z:\ is not accessible.  Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service."

To fix the problem I have to Disable->Save then re-Enable SharePort->Windows File Sharing (SAMBA).

Looking for a way to fix this permanently.

Details: DIR-880L    HW:A1    FW:1.04WW

What size is the connected USB drive?
What format is the drive using? NTFS is recommended...

How are you connecting to the drive? Mapping the drive?

Its a 4G NTFS USB 2.0 thumbdrive.
I am connecting to it via 'Map Network Drive' and enter: \\dlinkrouter.local\Kingston_ROUTER_0056
Before setting up the router I downloaded the latest firmware and a reset was done (as well as remove power) but I dont think I did a "Factory" Reset.  I suppose I can try this. The problem is intermittent so may be hard to tell if this works or not right away.

Searching internet, some solution suggest making registry changes for  IRPStackSize (mostly on XP systems) but that obviously doesn't apply here for the router.

Try using \\192.168.0.1\Kingston_ROUTER_0056

Keep us posted...

dlinkrouter.local resolves to 192.168.0.1 and I have used both to map the drive.

Thanks for the replies and I will update this post as i find out more info.
