DCS-2630L SD Card Issues
« on: December 21, 2016, 04:06:27 PM »

Hi everyone,

I have a DCS-2630L on the latest firmware (1.04 I think) and I am constantly having SD card issues. I have tried 3 different 128GB Samsung Evo SDXC cards in the same camera and every time there are issues. I can setup recording and it works fine for about a day, then errors start occurring.

First, the videos start corrupting and cannot be played or do not record for the entire time. Then, I get errors on the web interface stating the throughput of the card is not good enough. Lastly, the SD card just stops working and I get the XML errors when I go to files and I am unable to format the card.

As I stated, this happens after it works correctly for some time. It formats, records video, and plays the videos just fine. I have tried different settings, even setting the video quality to lower resolutions/quality but it makes no difference.

Any ideas?

Where did you get the cards from?

These are what the cards look like? Same labeling?

Does your 2630l run pretty hot?  Very warm to touch?  You wouldn't leave it near something flammable for fear of catching fire kind of hot (curtains, paper)?

I had a bunch of SanDisk cards that did the same kind of stuff on me a few years ago, 32 Gb.  Must have went through 3 or 4 of them.  Switched to some other brands (One is a Samsung Evo orange (in a DCS-2230), PNY memory card, MicroCenter brand, Toshiba) and they continue to work.

You might try something like this:

I believe I have a SanDisk Extreme in my 2630L, probably 64 Gb.  I no longer see that exact model at B&H. It looks like other chips have taken the price point.

I'm also only recording 24x7.  Are you recording other events other than 24x7?

Thanks for the response. I'll go through your questions one by one.

Yes, those are the same cards, same labeling.

The camera is warm, but not hot. I try to keep electronics away from flammable items as it is, but the camera does not give me better reason to.

Thanks for the information, but I'd hate to just try random cards as that seems like a waste of money.

Well, I advise you to try a different brand at least, and maybe something class U3.  Or you can keep wasting money on the Samsung Evo. (Or have you been returning them for refund?).

You didn't answer the one question.  Are you only recording 24x7 ?  Or recording motion/jpgs with 24x7 recording?

Well, the reason why I don't think it is the cards is because it did work for a few weeks with one of the cards. When it started having issues I swapped for another of the new cards I bought, and I saw issues within the first day. Thus why it sounds like a camera issue, not a card issue.

And yes, I am only recording. I first had it set to motion recording only, then tried 24/7, then tried 12:10am-11:50pm with a reboot at midnight. Same issue every time.

Hi,

I'm having exactly the same issue with the SD card with ALL my 3 cameras (same model), one after another. I have changed from 3 different brand of 128GB cards for the camera, and still having the same issue. At least 3 times for each camera have happened now. Getting frustrated.

128gb might be the issue, although the camera is supposed to support it?

Can you try a lower sized SD card? 32Gb?
