Title: Have I bricked my DIR-850L?
Post by: Güorker on September 23, 2013, 11:18:19 PM
Hello Everybody,
first of all sorry for my English.

I bought a DIR-850L and a Seagate 4Gb harddisk to connect to the router. As the router didn't recognise this hard disk but it recognises a smaller one I thought to upgrade to the latest firmware.

I didn't know the recommendations to upgrade the firmware and I tried to do the upgrade using Chrome and via WiFi (I know it is my fault).

I think that something gone wrong, because the router reboot itself but never started again. I left the router all the weekend with the power led blinking.

I think i have bricked the router, but somewhere I read that there is a crash recovery procedure. Is this procedure applicable to this router? any other ideas?

thank you very much.

Give this a try:
Emergency Recovery Mode (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=44909.0)
USE IE OR FF ONLY! We've seen Chrome or doing updates over wireless can prevent the update from completing successfully. We recommend not using Chrome for doing any FW updates and only update on a LAN wired connection.

IF this fails, you'll need to return the unit and get a new one or contact D-Link support for an RMA.

Please review this for doing any future updates:

Good Luck.
