Hi,

I'm new here, so please bear with me. I replaced my aging Linksys G router with this Best Buy Black Friday special. I do understand that it's not an expensive router, but some of the numbers are a bit bothersome.

I did a standard (non-CD) setup which only took a few minutes to get everything connected. I have a 2000sq ft house and unless I'm within 10-15ft of the modem, the signal bars on my ipod/iPhone/iPad is only 2 out of 3 bars. My new iPod Touch, iPhone 4 and iMac all support 11n and my older iPod touch as well as our other older Macbook use 11g. My older Linksys always showed 3 bars on all devices no matter where I was inside the house/garage or out front.

The main computers/iPods I use are in the family room about 45ft away and the signal needs to pass through roughly 4 walls to reach the router.

Here are some numbers that I'm getting from the wireless status:

7c:6d:62:60:6e:c6   192.168.0.101   802.11g   54M      14
d4:9a:20:59:14:d4   192.168.0.102   802.11n   300M           21
90:27:e4:3e:94:07   192.168.0.104   802.11n   300M           16
f0:b4:79:71:0a:25   192.168.0.105   802.11n   300M           12

The last column is the signal strength.   :(

Now when I run my voip bandwidth test, the results are good and when I run my basic internet speed tests, my numbers are 4.36 Mbps for download and 1.02 Mbps for upload.

I have the router set for "auto" channel.

I don't do online gaming, but I would like to achieve the best results possible with this router.

Any ideas for improving this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
  Bonnie

I just re-ran my bandwidth tests and the download is staying in the 18-19Mbps range.

Just fyi, I returned both of them on Sunday. I need something with better range.
