DIR 655 rev B1 need reboot for switch on off wireless
« on: March 21, 2014, 03:07:40 AM »

hi friends

as in the subject I have fw  ver 2.09b07

when I want to turn on or off wi-fi the router ask me to reboot to make modify take effect

this is very boring because more than 60 sec are needed  >:(

so I decided to open a ticket and they suggested me to upgrade fw to this:

ftp://bcnlab.dlinkddns.com/Public%20Folder/DIR/DIR-655/DIR655B1_FW202B09Beta02.zip

what is the story?  ???

is this a newer or older fw??

thanks in advance

David

Some of the wireless standards and drivers and HW may have changed from Rev A to Rev B. I notice this with older Rev As and now Rev Bs and newer gen routers have to either be rebooted or have a time delay to let the router make the requested changes completely. I presume this is all behind the scenes and is by design.  ::)

it seemed to me and answer as to say something and close the ticket....

I hope not but the DIR655 is old and seems strange that they are still developing this router....

time will tell, sooner or later, time will tell (from "Red Alert" intro scene)  ;D

At least it's in the system now and hopefully they will do something for it and come out with a new version of FW.

Ya, the 655 I think has been a big hit. I think it's been a work horse for them since they released Rev A. Seen alot of users still using it.

They released a Rev C here in the NA region that I helped beta test...rock solid router. Glad to see the new QoS engine being used that first appeared in the 645.  ;D
