Post by: turnbui on January 02, 2017, 04:11:36 PM

night motion detect Sensitivity setting - what would be a 'good' value? the manual shows 2 settings to the right of the picture [Sensitivity and Percentage] but chrome shows only the Sensitivity?

Use IE.  Chrome hasn't really worked well with those kind of screens.  (In fact, it's not even an available option on some cams).

It depends. But it is used in conjunction with setting an area on the image. Without setting the red boxes, it won't matter.

You are going to have to use piR detection, or try setting the motion detection in the mydlink app on your phone, or at mydlink.Com

Might not select some of the outer edges maybe and test.

Not sure if XP would be hindering anything. You'd have to test on a new PC maybe and see.

Interesting

V1.01 F/W has Percentage. 1.12 does not.

Both have Sensitivity.

On both F/W in IE11, when I fill in the boxes in the image, they are green - but when I let up my mouse button - they turn red.

Method 2 at the bottom F/W pages.

The newer F/W don't have percentage.  You should get red boxes like this when it is locked in.

I fired up my XP machine, but remembered I disconnect it from the network ...

I'll maybe try another time like on the weekend in XP, but there is probably no hope with it.

Have you tried port forwarding and accessing the cam remotely from your machine?  I forget where you ended up on that route.
Or is your machine the XP machine? lol

Start with 50.

And work up.

75 should be too high with all the noise in the image.  In other words it will keep firing a lot.

95% gives many false positives. 94% gives no false positives.  does this mean even a small moving object, say a mouse, should trigger a detection as long as it's in middle to front of capture area? Or should it be set to 5% of the total detection area?

There any form of spray or citrus oil that they might be offended by? I know cats don't like anything citrus smelling.

Might see if there is any one that has knowledge of these animals to see if they can recommend anything.

Put up 1/4" chicken steel fencing around places where they will try to get in. I had to do the same thing for birds getting up under our deck in between the wood beams. Birds would nest in the beams and poop on the bottom deck.  :-* Put the steel fencing in between the beams. No more birds.

Ya it's strong and you need strong wire cutters to cut it. I have a out door cat run/cage we built for the cats and there litter boxes. They can go out side and enjoy and potty there and yet they can't get free from the cage since there indoor cats. Works great.
