Title: Firmware upgrade problem

Hi.

I have a dgs-1216t rev. D1 and I am having problems upgrading the firmware. I always get the error "illegal firmware" in smartconsole utility or "illegal firmware header" if I try to upgrade from the web ui.

The swith has firmware 4.10.02.

Which file from the package are you uploading?

i am having the same problem trying to update from firmware 4.20.13 to 4.21.01

the new firmare request that we update in 3 steps

step1 1216TFWU.hex gives me an error message that this is a illegal firmare when trying to update from the smartconsol or web interface.

have not try step 2 1216Tldr.hex and step 3 DGS-1216T_D1D2_4_21_01.hex yet since step 1 is not working.

the switch is now dead.... none of the ports work, powercycle does nothing just the power light is on.

hitting the reset button also does nothing.......

Call in, get that thing replaced.  I don't know exactly what happened but I want to get some equipment that works, and at the newest firmware, into your hands.

I have the same problem with the upgrade. Here are the things I'm seeing wrong:

Using the D-Link Smart Console Utility:
1 - Using the file 1216TFWU.hex, I get the "Illegal firmware" message.
2 - Using the file 1216Tldr.hex, I get success
3 - Using the file DGS-1216T_D2_4.21.01.hex *crashes* the utility

Using the web interface:
1 - Using the file 1216TFWU.hex, I get a "firmware head illegal." message.

I'm not going to bother trying the other files with the web interface, I get the feeling I will brick the box, like the other customer did.

Ok, I finally got a resolution to my problem. The posted firmware files for 4.21.01 really don't work - at least for my switch. I could believe the the D1 rev or some other hardware version *might* work with the files, but I really doubt it. The new version (4.21.02) is only one file and it loaded into my switch using both the web interface and the SmartConsole utility. The web interface seems to be very picky about the browser and using IE 8 (all I have), I have to be in compatibility mode to make it work.
