some additional troubleshooting feedback

went to comcast and got a replacement modem (newer than previous) Motorola SB5101U - no change in testing results

Attached (ethernet) a different PC running XP to the 655 and had no problems (download and upload worked consistently 10 of 10 tests).

Attached another differnet PC running Win 7 to the 655 and had no problems (download and upload worked consistently 10 of 10 tests).

Installed XP on the PC for which I started this thread (the TA785GE motherboard running Win 7) and experienced the same failures as with Win 7

Incidentally, I have also tested all four Ethernet ports on the 655, so it is not a port specific problem.

So to summarize:

Three PC's have been tested two work acceptably (98+% for both upload and download) both with and without the DIR-655

1 PC (TA785GE motherboard running either Win7 or XP) works acceptably for upload and download without the DIR-655 but fails consistently on uploads using the 655 (and works consistently for downloads).

This appears to be an incompatibly problem between the TA785GE motherboard Ethernet port/drivers/settings and the DIR-655 settings.

I have also tested (toggled various driver settings) on the motherboard and many in the DIR-655 configuration (extensively but not exhaustively) with no change in results.

I configured the problem machine to be in the DMZ on the 655, believing this would circumvent any possible firewall or filtering problems, but the problem lives on.

As much as I tried to avoid it, it looks like I have boxed myself in to the WireShark analysis

More later

FurryNutz:
Exchanged router for a brand new one and am having the same issues, slow response to secure websites and can't update the firmware. Must be an issue with this RevB/2.00NA. I have tried all the troubleshooting I did with the previous router to the same result. Any further suggestions?  ???
