When I use the Smartplug App for iOS it takes about 18 seconds to find my light-switches. It also forgets the switches if you switch to another app and come right back
Using the mydlink Home App for iOS it finds the light-switches in about 3 seconds and don't forget it when switching apps.
Can someone at D-link fill us in on why there is such a big discrepancy between the 2 apps?

D-link support.... hello?!
-
I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email. This has been under review by D-Link.
Let us know how it goes please.

Not sure I want to waste my time on the phone to let them know that their software is slow and buggy. I'm sure they know that by now if they tested it.
I did email them, no response. They seem to ignore these forums on the topic as well.
Not impressed.

I'll pass this along to D-Link and see if I can get some info.
Please be patient.

The mydlink Home app is the preferred method of accessing the Connected Home devices. In so doing, we are phasing out the Smart Plug app as we make this transition. This may shed some light as to why one app works better than the other. It is still an on-going process so we thank all of our creative D-Linkers for sharing their experiences with the product and for reporting their observations.

Thank you Ryos. ;)

Yikes. The MyDlinkHome app still needs a lot of work. It's not quite as handy to launch it just to turn some lights on and off as it takes an extra step to select your lamps and it's easy to miss the on/off switch and instead get info on the switch itself.
Hope they are serious about updating it.

A recent iOS update has been released to version 1.1.0 for the mydlink Home App.
As always we welcome your feedback here on the D-Link Forums.

This update resolved none of the previous issues and clearly mentions it only adds support for a new product.
