Whats the point of 5Ghz if d-link doesn't have a 5Ghz card?

Whats the point of 5Ghz if d-link doesn't have a 5Ghz card?
I want to put all my network computers on 5GhzN and my cameras on 2.4GhzG.

But I can't find a wireless 5.ghz card for the computers.

So this will still force all my 2.4N computers to run at G speeds.

you should be able to run G and N at the same time assuming that your cameras support WPA/AES.

I assume all these "computers" you're talking about are Laptops and your want to use the carbus interface?

If you're willing to overlook the desire for carbus, you can use the DWA-160. It supports both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz.

Be sure to keep your wireless mode on your router set to B G and N so your cameras can keep a connection.

Does anyone know if D-Link is planning on releasing a dual band Xtreme N PCI and/or PCIe card?  I am not interested in a USB wireless adapter (DWA-160) as they generally dont seem to pick up a signal as well as internal cards w/ proper antennas.

Currently, no. We observed a trend of movement towards USB devices and have followed suit.

Thanks for the reply Lycan.  So we shouldnt expect any PCI and/or PCIe versions anytime soon?

Also, do you know how we can increase the reception on USB wireless adapters to that of PCI/PCIe adapters?

Thanks,
HMR.

Offically, you'll have to wait and see. In my opinion I HIGHLY doubt it, as the market trend is USB devices.

As for increased reception with the USB, GOOD LUCK.
