Title: My does Android demand WIRELESS firmware upgrades (DCS2132L)
Post by: MacUser on September 26, 2014, 09:32:11 AM
Once again the skill of dlink's software team must be questioned.   There are copious warnings for us to upgrade a wireless cameras firmware ONLY with a wired connection to the router.

This week when accessing one of my DCS 2132L cameras it asked if I wanted the firmware updated NOW.  My girlfriend clicked on Okay and my Android indicated it was upgrading the firmware.  Huh ?   What ?  Through a 4G connection ?   That's not a hard-wired connection to the router.  It finished after about 10 minutes, and now the camera is inaccessible.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for immediate help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

Were you able to subsequently restore access to your camera?

YES !   Thank you for asking.  And using my Android only I've performed four successful firmware upgrades.  What's the danger in doing the upgrade from an Android ?  If it were risky, why does drink allow it ?
