DHP-701AV - are they a mesh network?
« on: January 29, 2019, 04:57:59 PM »

I'm trying to use a pair of DHP-700AV  power line networking units to establish a connection to a controller at an entryway gate.  There is, of course, 120VAC power there so I installed a receptacle in the controller box for this purpose.  After completely mocking up my system in a room in the house where the power line units worked great, I first moved the remote DHP-700 out to the gate.  When I plugged it in, after a while I got two green lights.  Then I proceeded to mount the Gogogate2 interface out there.  After powering up, I could not get a link to it.

It's about 300 feet out to the gate.  Is there a distance limit for the protocol?  I wonder if installing more DHP-700's along the way would help?   From the house to a detached garage is about 100", then from there the electrical service routes to an "RV barn" 100 ft. further along.  Finally the last 100 feet gets to the gate controller.  Perhaps install two more DHP-700s?  One in each building along the way......  There would presently be no usage on the  ones in between ( probably in power saving mode)--- maybe they can act as relays?

No, MESH is for a wireless system.
