Photo resizing on dsm520
« on: March 28, 2008, 08:26:15 PM »

On my DSM520 using a wide screen tv through an hdmi port does anyone else see that the 520 STRETCHES .jpg images?  It doesn't do it when connected to a 4:3 tv through composite, but no matter what settings I choose (there aren't many), it makes everyone look FAT when images are displayed on a 16:9 tv.

The dsm510 displays the SAME images properly on both 4:3 and 16:9 tv.

what are you using for a media server? i use tversity, if you are using that, try settings/transocoder and look for the image size. you can play with that and try to make it work... try 1080 x 1024...

I have this same issue as well using PVconnect as the media server on my HP MediaSmart Server, f/w 1.06 on the DSM-520.

Last night while watching a slide show, it came to one photo that was smeared distorted on the lower half, the player reset (like changing video resolution from 1080i to 480p) for a few photos (which then filled the screen). It reset yet again when the show looped to that same smeared distorted photo.

I'm connected via component thru a HK A/V receiver, then by component to my HDTV. The DSM is setup for 1080i and show photos in original format.
