Can you test this with out the 825s WiFi going. If you can then either the 615 is having problems or something externally is interfering. Might have to contact DLink for RMA.

There are no other wireless routers nearby. Wired only. Moved it to wired location only.

I'm thinking RMA at this point.

I requested an RMA online. Then I got a couple of "this product isn't supported in this region" and one procedure for factory reset. I did the latter and 4 hours later the WiFi went away. The reply I got to that was "We can't handle this by email, you have to phone". I will call them tomorrow and let you know what happens.

On the phone, the tech made me do a software factory reset through the UI as if that would be better than the hardware reset. It didn't make any difference, of course, so I'll be calling them again today for an RMA.

On the technical side, when I did the reset, the router lost the time. I set the time and did a Save Settings. Guess what? The WiFi came back on without doing a reboot! What's up with that?

Does the 615 work has a host router with out the 825 being online?
If not, get to to RMA.

Good luck.

Today's update: got an advance ship RMA. The new router has arrived: hardware version I1 Firmware 9.01NA.

It's running now. I'll test it for a couple of days then send back the faulty one on Monday.

To close off this thread, the new unit has been in place for 10 days now and the wireless has run flawlessly the entire time. I guess sometimes faulty performance is due to a faulty unit :)

Thanks to those who offered help (esp. FurryNutz).

OTOH, my IOMEGA network backup drive went offline. I moved the cable to another port and it came back online immediately. Hmmmmm...
