What are the file properties of the file stated not supported? How were these files created?

Again sorry for the long delay in responce. Yes I have the Media Player as my Media Server. But good news, I think. I have re-installed my OS Vista and it looks like it might work. I was have all kinds of issues with the Windows Media Player. It would even play my downloaded movies that I purchased from online movie compaines like Vango, Direct2Drive, and Movielink. Media Player 11 must have gotten corrupt durning Windows Update.

No dice. My some of my movie will play but either the video stops or the sound goes out, and I tried this in both wire and wireless and I get the same action. Does the fireware on the DSM-510 hold decoders? If so, I would really get your customer the best decoders that money can by. I'm going to wait awhile to see if any fixes come out soon, or i'll just uses this thing as a paperweight!

What are the file properties of the files that do not play as opposed to the ones that do?

They are all WMV and they are all home made by me using either Windows Movie Maker or Photo Story 3 for Windows. Mostly the Photo Story will not play. The only where it will play but either stops or the sound go out are ones that I bought either from Direct2Drive.com or MovieLink.com... and they are in .wmv also.

Again I don't know as I mention they were encoded by the Photo Story. It doesn't say what version. It just asked what type, and I always select .WMV....

I see. The DSM-510 support WMV9 this may be the issue you are seeing. Files can be converted to WMV9 by following the FAQ from the support site in the link below.

I have followed those instruction before, and they still won't play. Also what about my downloaded movies that i've purchased. Why do they play and then either stop playing or the sound goes out in 2 mins into the movie?
