DWA 160 unable to change preferred connection
« on: April 09, 2014, 12:27:48 PM »

It was working fine until someone in the neighborhood brought a new open connection within range. Now it find others but only will connect to the new one. It has a password, that I don't know, so I don't want to connect to him. Even by going through and trying to disable the new connection, it will still default to him.
Should I uninstall wipe all the files and regedit any remaining references, then reinstall from scratch?

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your DWA?
  • What region are you located?

What Mfr model is your main host router?

  • Ensure the default (dlink) SSID name is changed. Can be anything and not something that's already in use by any neighboring WiFi routers. Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.

You should only need to remove any saved WiFi profiles in your PC platform then when you connect, have it rescan for WiFi then select the SSID from the list and pick our router that you want to connect too.
