DAP-1160
« on: August 18, 2014, 12:48:00 AM »

For a few years two DAP-1160 routers were paired for a WiFi bridge.
Then one of the pair stopped being accessible online to its IP address
by http. The status light is off. So I bought another DAP 1160 to
replace it and the same thing happened. Then the third one also
went the same way - power light only no boot status ok light.
So I have three DAP-1160 all failed in the same way. Seems odd.
Tried changing power supplies, and a paper clip reset and pinging
on the factory IP address (192.168.0.50), but each unit is not
responding. The LAN active light do flicker for each ping, so something
is working inside.
Any method to resurrect these units would be appreciated.

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

How are you connecting to the DAPs? Wired or wireless?
Are you setting up a static IP address on the managing PC to connect to the DAP after the factory reset?

Is there a main host router? MFr and Model #?

  • Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by?
  • Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many? Use v3, its free.

Hi FN,
Yep - delayed by holiday in Devon :)
Information that I can get is hardware version A1, A1 and A1.
Software version for all three is V1.41, the replacement unit
as new and the original two have updated firmware from V1.20.

None of the units respond to ping on 192.168.0.50 after a reset.
Not much more to do unless the LAN is working.

I bought two DAP-1360s as a replacement. At least they respond
to pings on 192.168.0.50 and show that the PC network can reach
that subnet.
Kind Regards,
edmiikk.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. Ask for an RMA if you haven't returned them already. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.
