Unable to add GAMING RULES
« on: October 25, 2011, 02:44:37 AM »

Hello all, I'm trying to port forward Xbox Live ports, Magic Jack Plus ports and other misc. ports on my 4500.

However, when I add in all the information for the gaming rule, click ADD, the page refreshes and nothing is there. If I select a rule (say Xbox Live) from the app drop down, even select a specific connected device, click ADD, the same thing, page reloads, nothing is listed under GAMING RULES...

I'm stumped! :-\

I'm running latest firmware.

Any help would be appreciated!

Using PFPortChecker I can obtain my external IP and can successfully ping my router, just can't get these ports opened :(

I've been trying IE, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, lol.

I just got it to work for XBOX LIVE after assigning a specific PC.

If I must do this for the Magic Jack Plus (which is plugged into my router), how do I assign a specific IP within my DHCP IP range to the Magic Jack Plus? Right now every time my router restarts each device is given a new IP between.

Have you reviewed the XBL sticky on how to set up XBL and game fuel. Pay attention to the IP reservations as well.
You don't need to add a rule for Magic Jack.

Let us know if you need help.

Hey guys, I reset my router to default and was able to add in Xbox Live.

However, I still cannot figure out how to open port 5060 and 5070 so MagicJack stops "beeping" during calls.

As soon as I can figure out how to open those ports up on the router, I'm golden (I hope).

You could use Gamefuel in the same way, set up ports in the same fashion however the Local IP address range From and To will both be the PC IP address that MJ is connected too. Remote IP address Range will be 0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255 and use BOTH for protocol. Set a Priority to like 200 should be good enough.

Nutz, totally understand there... The only problem is the Magic Jack device is the new PLUS unit that connects directly to the router via ethernet cable, no more MJ > PC > ROUTER it's now just MJ > ROUTER.

I want to find the MJ current IP address and assign it to the device for life - Just as if I was assigning my computer a specific IP, Sub, Gateway in the TCP/IPv4 properties of my Local Area Connection, but instead through the router, because I don't know if it's possible to do it within Magic Jack.

I see, didn't know they had a new gen unit.  ???

Well if you connect it to the router, Check the Networking/Dynamic Clients list or Status/Networking and you should see a new IP address listed. So then you can use that to save the IP address or give it something unique.

Ahh, YES, that's what I want to do :)

Here in about 15 minutes I'm going to cut off everything except my laptop and the Magic Jack.

HOW do I isolate and assign that bad boy a perm IP within the local IP range?

Because right now when I restart my router (which I do often for various things) it auto assigns every device a new local IP. Pretty much I want it like my Brother laser printers that use WIFI. They never need to be modified unless I reset the router to default and I can always print to them regardless of how many times I restart the router.

Wow, you need to setup ALL of your devices as reserved IPs on the router.
To do this, turn ALL devices off.
Restart the router and let it boot up.
Connect one PC at this time and go in and reserve the IP address you see for it. Give it a name if you want so you can easily ID it in the router settings. Add the reservation.

Then turn on the next device and do the same thing as you did with the PC.
Do this for each device.

When your done, save the routers configuration to file for later use.
