Time doesn't survive reboot
« on: March 05, 2012, 07:03:21 AM »

DAP-1360 Firmware Version V1.10 Hardware Version Rev A
Has any one encountered this problem?
The Automatic Time Configuration does not work. I can only set the time using "Copy Your Computer's Time and Settings".  However, the time does not survive a reboot. I purchased this unit from Amazon this Summer 2011 and it was replaced via RMA in December 2011. ???

Can you set the NTP server?

Thank you for your response. Option to use NTP server does not work. After selecting it (have tried several) and saving settings the router comes back online with random/wrong date-time and never makes call to NTP SERVER even if left in this state for days.

I would call DLink and tell them of this situation. Might need to RMA the unit. Keep us posted on how it goes. This seems like bug in FW.  :-\

I spoke with D-Link today. They are going to RMA the unit. However, since this will be the second time, I requested a REV B unit. But it is their policy to keep the hardware rev numbers consistent in an RMA. At first the agent told me there is only a Rev A. I referred him to the D-Link 'support' web page that clearly distinguishes between the two and mentioned the things said about REV A in this forum. He said he would add my request to the RMA but couldn't promise the outcome. He did say, since this is the second time I am reporting the same problems, the RMA unit will be tested before it is shipped. I will keep you posted.

I am not beta testing D-Link production products any more! In March I finally convinced support to RMA this unit a second time. The RMA department didn't agree because too much time had lapsed between the time that I received the replacement and when I reported the problem.

Well, I am not a D-Link volunteer beta tester!  I demonstrated how each problem was reproducible and I documented them in detail. Then I challenged D-Link to put a unit on their test bench and see if they could operate this model without encountering these errors. It seems funny that the RMA department said too much time passed, yet D-Link can send a unit to manufacturing and distribution that is not functional for a much longer time!

Having spent enough time and energy on this project I just caulked it up as a learning experience. I am an electrical engineer and a computer scientist. I will not be purchasing or recommending D-Link solutions. I do have a DIR-655 that works great. But  like I said, I am not beta testing D-Link production products any more.

Good luck dealing with D-Link.
