You are using the latest NA firmware.
When you overlaid EU firmware with NA firmware you have unknowingly adopted the North American Wi-Fi channelization plan. The Wi-Fi Alliance and the IEEE organizations divide the 2.4 GHz band into 14 channels.
Here in the U.S. we can use channels 1 through 11 while most of Europe can use channels 1 through 13. Japan can use all 14 channels for 802.11b. In theory each country has the right to decide which channels to use AND how much power can be transmitted on those channels. In the beginning France used channels 10 through 13 and Spain used channels 10 and 11. Both countries now follow the broader EU standard.
So ... your router is using the NA standard but your D-Link DWA-140 network adapter is probably using the EU standard. While this ****eyed arrangement will actually work, I wonder if it's causing you some problems. I use several D-Link DWA-160 rev B network adapters on my PCs and when I examine the configuration information there is a property known as "Country Region (2.4 GHz)" which is assigned the value of " #0 (1-11)". There are other possible values such as " #1 (1-13)" which should be suitable for Europe. Since I have never seen the Ubuntu operating system, I don't have a clue about changing this property or if it even exits! (If it doesn't exist you might need a different driver for the adapter.)
