Hi.

I recently bought a 5222L to monitor my home, but I cant seem to get it to connect to my computer. Using the installation wizard, I seem to get stuck at the "Searching for Cloud camera" step. I got past it once, but then it apparently couldn't connect to my wifi. By then, I'd been doing it for a while, so I decided to try again another day. Now it doesn't even show up in the "Searching for Cloud camera"-step.

I've downloaded the latest install-wizard from the website. The ethernet cable is connected to both the camera and the router. The light on the front is usually a steady green, although it blinks from time to time. The blue light doesnt seem to do anything while the green one is on. I've tried resetting it with the reset button below the antennae, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

I'd really like it to work, but my patience is really running low, so any advice is greatly appreciated. :/

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your DCS? Look at the sticker behind or under the camera.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the DCSs web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?

Are you connecting the camera to the main host router via LAN wired cable? This is recommended initially to set it up first.

What IP address Is the PC and Camera getting? 192.168.1.### or 192.168.0.###

I recommend setting a static IP address ON the cameras outside of the main host routers default DHCP IP address pool as a troubleshooting step: 192.168.#.10 and .11  DHCP

Test cameras with uPnP and uPnP Port Forwarding both enabled on ALL cameras: DCS Cloud (L) Series Camera Configuration and Mydlink.com

try to disable the PC's anti-virus or firewall, download the latest setup wizard too.

but you may try these steps, I do this all the time
1. connect new camera to LAN (you may reset it if already used before)
2. use the Mydlink lite in phone.
3. On mydlink , use the "Add a New Camera"

Hi again. Sorry for the delayed answer, life sort of got in the way.

Just picked this up again yesterday, and I still cant get it working. I also took it over to a friend, where it connected to his computer/wifi really easily- as its supposed to - and worked perfectly. I tried to configure my own router to the best of my ability, and discovered that the camera is actually connected to the router - and even connected to the computer (I can find it in my "networks" tab), but the install wizard cant find it.

My router is a Huawei B593. I have enabled uPnP and downloaded the latest software from the dlink website. The ip of the camera was originally 192.168.1.2. I changed it to 192.168.1.10, without it making any difference. The computer I'm trying to install it on is using Windows 7.

Since I was able to register the camera on mydlink.com at my friends house, I can see it is online (it wants a firmware upgrade when I select it on my account) when I've got it connected, but on my desktop keep getting stuck at the same same point - the install wizard looks for nearby cloud cameras but cant seem to find any. I've tried using the dlink-lite app - still cant find it.

:/

Seems like something on your PC maybe getting in the way.

Disable all PC security software temporarily.
Clear any and all browser caches in IE11 or FF.

So here I am again. I figured that there might be something with the specific computer getting in the way, so I disabled everything I possibly could, but to no avail. So I tried to install it on my Surface Pro just to see if it would work there. Nope. Same issue- the camera is recognized as part of the network when its connected, but the install wizard refuses to find it.

I'm guessing something about the router makes the camera show up as something other than a camera to the wizard. So while browsing for a new one I stumbled onto the "DIR-518L". I guess it might be the wrong forum to ask about another D-link device, but as far as I can tell, the DIR-518L would allow me to use the original WIFI to create a brand new "D-link certified" network, right? And then I should be able to use that one as a hook up for the camera?

Give the DIR series router a try. I would bridge the ISP modem to ensure your getting a full public IP address on the WAN side of the DIR series router. If you can't bridge the router, put the IP address the DIR series router gets on its WAN port into the ISP modems DMZ.

You said you configured the camera at your friends without issues. Was it under your mydlink account? If yes and if you have not reset the camera, you do NOT need to run the setup wizard. The camera is assigned to your mydlink account. You should be able to connect the camera to your network.

When you connect the camera to your local network and then go to mydlink.com, does this camera show up on your list of devices? Can you see live video?
