Save and display Min/Max temperatures with datetimes that they occurred.  Allow values to be displayed and reset from Status page.

Support encryption on drives with "Bulk Data Encryption", like the Hitachi ones.

The password should be alive only when the drive is turned on, after you turn it off the password would have to be inserted again. There should also be some control over the IP or MAC address of the computers that can access the drive.

Need to improve on the following,

1. BT client downloading very slowly, suspect being block by ISP but no option to bypass or encrypt BT
2. should have a torrent folder to keep seeds as backup while downloading
3. cannot remote to web admin page from external network when using DDNS.  port 80 or 8080 not open (tried to assigned other port also cant connect)

We need to keep the requests reasonable - for example - and I'm using the previous post, only as an example, there are other, equally unreasonable (if not more) requests.

1) - do you really expect D-Link to fix an ISP block - take it up with your ISP

When necessary, request help in a separate thread.

2) - if you can't remote to port 80 or 8080 from an external network, this is not a problem with the device perse, it is either an incorrect configuration on your DNS-323 or your router - or - quite likely, your ISP has blocked these ports to prevent you from hosting a webserver.

RAID1 is for disk redundancy - NOT data backup - don't confuse the two.

I assume some of these will be impossible, but what the heck...

1. Auto Power On
2. Scheduled Power Up/down Time
3. WOL
4. USB storage support
5. eDonkey
6. Scandisk

I would love to see 1, 2, 3.  Or some way on a remote system to power on and power off via command line.

I'm in CANADA, and yes, the Major ISP block all P2P activity ... ;(   ... A join Lawsuit are in progress again them.... lets hope we will win.

But about the BT client, it was a very good idea from Dlink.. safe lot of power, but all my UP/Down ratio are not mooving, so i can't improve my ratio on some forum. So fix this will be great.

The most important thing for now are the support of UPS, to prevent incorect shutdown of the unit !

To make basic functionality complete (for me) as a storage device:

#1.  Support automated scheduled backup of contents to USB connected Hard Drive ... or to another network drive (ie. a second DNS323 or other)
#2.  secure ftp

That's it.
I want to be able to backup ALL the digital stuff I have without worrying about whether I can get it back.  I'm running Raid 1 ... but to be really safe I'd like to see #1.  Raid can't account for user error.

Everything else is gravy for me.

* special characters in passwords!!!!!

!@#$%^&*(){}[]\|/?><,.   etc

+1...can't agree more.  All of the passwords for my user accounts on my various PCs have special chars in them...so pass-through auth obviously doesn't work.
