my pc is win 7 3.2ghz with 6gig ram ddr3 on an x58 board.

Is your PS3 wired or wireless to the router?

Mine is wired with two GB switches and the router between my PC and PS3 (computer--switch--router--switch--PS3).  I have no issues with playback of HD movies.

Wireless would be a much different story.  I have never had luck streaming wireless HD on a consistent basis.

What antivirus suite are you running?
Also the PS3 is NOT gigabit, so you have a 10/100 bottleneck there.
Are you running jumboframes on the PC?
What software are you using to host the stream to the PS3?

You need to look at the specs of the PS3 again Lycan.  The PS3 is gigabit.  You may be confusing it with the Xbox 360, which is not gigabit.

Take a look at your Traffic Statistics page to see if you are getting dropped packets or errors.  This would help indicate a networking issue.

To get there, log in the router, select Status on the top menu then Statistics on the side menu.

LAN Statistics
Sent : 8002496
TX Packets Dropped : 10
Collisions : 0
Received : 5921546
RX Packets Dropped : 0
Errors : 0

You don't need to worry about Cat6 cabling unless you are having a connection problem or lots of dropped packets.  My network is entirely Cat5e running at Gigabit speeds with no issues.  Cat6 is guaranteed to support the bandwidth requirements of Gigabit ethernet while 5e is not guaranteed but very likely to handle it.

Other than this, I would have to defer to Lycan's expertise to help further. :)

Hey the new firmware seems to fix my problems.

At first i was having problems with my MAC and 5ghz wireless signal dropping everytime.
Reset
Got fixed.
Then my wife was using the wireless MAC to browse
My lan Gigabit network PC was uploading 70gig of files
And my PS3 was streaming a movie to my telly at the same time
20 mins in the movie. The whole network shutsoff
LCD lights up on my Router and everything resumes again in a minute.
Its like it couldnt handle the load, but then again WHAT LOAD!!!
i didnt even begin to put pressure on this.
My apple extreme Router did a better job at this.
The only reason i moved back to D-Link was because I am faithfull to it.
URGH!!!!!

Today i installed the new firmware hopefully it will be better.

I have the same problems. Just got the 855 a week ago. But drops,, drops. Also in youtube. I am realy realy mad now. My old Linksys did not have this problem. Its the router. But somedays it works fine for a few houers.
I am ready to burn it and go back to my old router. It was pretty expensive this one. But what did i pay for here? Damn i am angry.
