Title: DIR-615 wireless issues
Post by: ontrans on March 13, 2015, 04:23:33 PM
Hi there,

I had my DIR-615 all up and running for a year, but recently no one can access my wireless internet. The SSID is visible and we can connect to it, but this is as far as it goes. I saw that on an Adroid device, while connecting, it displays "Obtaining IP address from <My SSID>". We can access the internet through the LAN no problem.

I turned off my MAC address filtering, and then all WiFi security settings, but still no luck.

    Hardware version: E4
    What Firmware version: 5.10
    I am in New Zealand
Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?: Both: wired okay, wireless not.
Has a Factory Reset been performed? Yes
Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch? : Set up from scratch

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations

What ISP Service do you have? Cable
What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have? Cisco DPC3008
Is ISP Modem/Service using Dynamic or Static WAN IP addressing? Static
What ISP Modem service link speeds UP and Down do you have? Ultrafast - Download 50 Mbit/s, Upload 2 Mbit/s
Check cable between Modem and Router, swap out to be sure.  - LAN internet is working fine
    Check

ISP MTU requirements, Cable is usually 1500, DSL is around 1492 down to 1472. Call the ISP and ask.   - LAN internet is working fine

Wireless Configurations

SSID name has ben changed, not something that's already in use by any neighboring WiFi routers.
What wireless modes are you using? Mixed, N and G
Channel Width set to 20Mhz only.
    Auto Channel Scan is enabled.
Security mode is Auto (WPA or WPA 2) Cypher type: TPIK and AES.
What wireless devices do you have connected? Andoid phones, Java phone
Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by that maybe causing interferences? No
Any other WiFi routers in the area that maybe causing interferences? No

Cheers,

Kurt

Temporarily disable WPA security and test to see if the wireless devices connect and gain internet traffic. Set WPA and TPIK only and test with single mode G...

Also set Auto 20/40Mhz Channel Width
