IMO, anyone that buys a product based on what it might do in the future is wasting their money.

I bought my two DNS323s baaed on what it can do NOW and I am very happy.

Sure there are a few bugs that I would like to see fixed, but if they had been 'sow stoppers' I would simply have returned them for a refund and bought something else.

Then why D-link reps AND D-link website still promote DNS-323 as a solution to home data server as a long term solution? In addition, isn't it illegal here in Canada to say that a prodcut will have at last one year warranty and turn around and say "anyone that buys a product based on what it might do in the future is wasting their money." Companies get sued for this!

According to laws, since my receipt reads I brought this yesterday from a registered D-link authorized dealer, they must provide support for at least one year EVEN if the product is discontinued.

I just loaded 1.10 and here are my quick observations:

1) The print server no longer works.  I can see the printer attached to the 323 but cannot print.

I updated three 323's and all had the same issue.  I didn't go through the hassle of going to factory defaults yet but on one of them I rolled back to 1.09 and VIOLA!  I can print.

Has anyone successfully gotten the print server to work with 1.10 beta? I'm having the same problem as  mobilejukebox. Although I can see 'lp' when I browse for printers on the device, when I attempt to create the local port per fordem's technique (\\ip_address\lp), Windows complains that "The network name cannot be found". This has always worked for me in the past. Neither does it work when I attempt to install per D-Link's instructions.

My printer is working fine - all I had to do was reinstall the driver after the update, used the Windows 7 "add network printer" wizard.

I have been running 1.10beta for about 2 weeks now.
I have noticed the following:
The fans do not kick in when the drives have not been accessed in awhile. The temps were at 45C and no fan, but when I went to get a file, the drives spun up and the fans turned on.

Also, when the bittorrent is running for awhile the transfer rates decrease, even with no files being transferred. If I stop and re-start the service, my transfer speeds go back to normal. Is there a way to start and re-start this service automatically?

I have another version of beta build 06 that is going through lab testing. We expect it to release officially early april if no major issues are found.

Beta build 06 will be released early April, or the official firmware?

Can you make the "beta build 06" available for download please?

I posted
"q1 Now that 1.10 turns off fans ON C1 MODEL, has anyone actually seem them come on when they past a certain temp, as earlier post says they are reaching 37°C and the fans are still off, which is quite worrying? also Can you controll fan temp e.g. I mean set the temp they come on lower than 37°C?"

tosbert REPLIED WITH :

Apparently, d-link say -

OFF = 43 degree celcius
LOW = 46 degree celcius
HIGH = 49 degree celcius

Can you please confirm this is TRUE, and is there a way to control, as I personally think 46degrees is too high before the low fan kicks in and would prefer it be lower say
OFF  = <37
LOW = 39
HIGH = "as is"

PLEASE PLEASE PLASE > ANY CHANCE OF THIS CHANGE IN BETA6 PLEASE :-*  THANKS!!!!

I think you are severely mis-informed and did not understand what I was saying. Nobody is disputing that they will or will not support the unit and its PRESENT capabilities.

I stand by my statement that you should never buy something based on future potential capabilities.

Today the print server stopped working. I printed successfully after my update to 1.10, but today I just can't get anything to print. I've restarted my 323, uninstalled/reinstalled the driver, nothing. I also notice there is no "clear print queue" button in the UI.  ???

The "Clear Printing queue" button normally resides in Status - Device info, third section. It's visible and clickable even to me (no printer attached).

What is the difference between 1.10 beta 05 and 1.10 beta 06?

Why don't you release 1.10 beta 06 as a beta build?

Have been using this new 1.10 build since it came out with the bittorrent beta addon.  My impressions.
1.  The temperature setting to kick off the fans is too high.  I have a small fan in front of the drive going to keep the temp down.
2.  A couple of times the drive has become inaccessible and have had to reboot.  The hard drives are fine by the way.
3. The printer worked fine after the update without having to reinstall in Windows.  Not sure why people are having problems, then again I have the drive on a static IP address.

**sorry to those who have noticed the double-post**

Yep, I'm well aware of where it should be. I have two boxes, "MEDIA" and "DATA" on MEDIA I have no printer attached and under status:

Manufacturer:  None
Product:  None

[Clear Print Queu(s)]

But in DATA where my printer is attached USB:

Manufacturer:  Canon
Product:  MP510

... nothing else!

Will reset to factory and reload my settings. **cross fingers**

@luisito_ortiz :

my two 323's, PS3, and main pc all have reserved ips.
