Alright, just picked this baby up at Frys today. They had both DGL5500 and DIR-868L. Had to go with the newest and latest DGL-5500.

Configuration was straight forward, used the latest firefox browser and connected all the LAN PC and it fired right up. All wireless connected as well. Logged back in to see the "roadmap" of all devices connected both wired and wireless, must say I like having real time info!!!!!
I will be making priority settings soon and minor tweaks. I have the XBOX configured per the QOS game fuel rules ( thanks Furry!!!!) Although I will not be able to test the xbox 360, since I sold it and waiting for the release of the XBOX1....yes I preordered.

Thus far all connected devices are functioning and smoothly on stock FW 1.00. The qualcomm chipset seems to be a bit quicker in processing the internet data......when will GOOGLE FIBER be ready in my area!!!!!!

Please try using the DGL-5500 with out using the XBL sticky rules first. We'd like to know how the router works out of the box with out any tweeks in that area. How many xboxes do you have online at one time?

Furry, sold all my XBOXes, anticipating the release of the XBOX1 in Nov 30. Will ask my next door neighbor to borough his XBOX 360 and will test XBOX live w/o any of the sticky rules.

Just like to add, that this unit thus far out of the box has been performing quite well. noticeably in the 2.4 wireless range, the signal and power is great. My Sony laptop is quick and snappy on the 2.4GHZ and the 5ghz band is good as well ( I have my other lappie and Iphone connected on this range). Of note when configuring the 5ghz band the frequency band now includes (auto/20/40/80 mhz) range!!!!!!!! and A/G/N/AC running together is another option!!!!

The new GU interface is really nice and simple, easy to read and setup as well.

Underneath the STREAMBOOST tab they have an option for auto update of the stream boost technology to keep up with all current apps and gaming. I may turn that on and have that running in the background. The video below states that there will be MONTHLY F/W updates and that will be another option in keeping this router up to date ....constantly.

CONS: No separate wireless guest network and bridge mode capability like the DIR-865L

Good Luck with XB1. It won't be seeing my house. I'm sticking with the 360 series. I might get one of the new 3rd gen 360s.

It's how it gets AC speeds.

I presume since this is a "Gaming" router that those options wont be available. The DGL series never had those options. I personally want the best performance out of this router and Guest Zone  would probably reduce that and Bridging would only make the new QoS engine usable so why have that option.

Just wanted to post this . In the Stream boost tab, you're able to enable it to auto update in the background and this is some of the info they have to inform the user of the experience.

What so ya think...benign??? For now I enabled the option to update. Of course I will be looking for the official Dlink F/W.

I would run it enabled and see how it goes. I would think it only helps to improve that feature.
