DNR-322L - No New Firmware for 2 Years (Last one 10/16/2015)
« on: October 16, 2017, 06:54:45 AM »

Was wondering if D-Link or anyone has heard when the new Firmware is coming out. There hasn't been a new Firmware for 2 years.

I know you have use an older Firefox browser, can't use chrome and Edge so there is alot of fixes that can be done as well enhancements. Last time I emailed support they said there was one but that was 4 months ago. I also asked if the device was EOL and the answer was no, so I would think they would still provide updates.

Nothing that I'm aware of.

Are you having problems with the DNR?

You can use FF ESR version of there browser for compatibility: v52.0.4.1 is the latest version of FF ESR.

I'm not having an issue with the DNR, but other companies update there devices on a regular bases. If the DNR is still for sale (and it is) then Dlink should update them with new features, compatibility and etc. If they are going to discontinue it then they need to do so and have a replacement for those that want more enhancements, features, etc.

I'm not having an issue with ESR, but I shouldn't have to use that.  Plus I'm sure there are people who are not tech savvy like some of us to be able to use both ESR and latest version of Firefox. Plus there is Google Chrome and Edge.

Well, there in lies the rub, all of the browser mfrs have been locking down there normal standard used browsers and no longer supporting plug ins. Save FF which has offered the ESR version that supports plug-ins still. Not sure where all this will end up. So for now, ESR versions of FF or IE11 will need to be used for plug in browser support and older generation product compatibility.

I understand. I do wish they would put something out with some enhancements. A lot of times when a new version comes out there are enhancements that go along with, plus I'm sure there are some security fixes that are needed since that is always needed.

Knowing D-Link, they only add in features and enhancements upon request and after consideration during early development of a product. As the product gets older, features and enhancements are usually not considered and only security issues are dealt with as they crop up.  ::)

Seen this across D-Link product lines.  ::) I asked a while back for a bug that was just a bug, however limited QoS on one model router I have. Was reviewed but eventually was rejected and never fixed.  ::) I was a bit too late in getting it addressed.  :-\
