Does anyone know if the 942L and 5020L AC adaptors are interchangeable?
-
942L specs:
Power
Input: 100-249 V AC, 50/60Hz
Output: 5 V DC, 1.2A
External AC-to-DC switching power adapter
5.5W Max Power Consumption
5020L:
Power
Input: 100-240 V AC, 50/60 Hz
Output: 12 V DC, 1 A

.2 amp extra or less shouldn't hurt? ::) ???
Does the plug fit securely?
-
Haven't tried for fear of damaging something. They look identical. Exception is 5020 uses black colored and 942 is paired with a white one.
-
The only other thing to be concerned of is the tip polarity.
What I mean is - is the inside (-) and the outside (+)? Are they different on each?

I just looked at an old 5222L, the polarity is on the back of the connector to the camera.
Please do tell why you are doing this? :o

If any of the above items are missing, please contact your reseller.
Note: Using a power supply with a different voltage than the one included with your product
will cause damage and void the warranty for this product.
At the end of the manual for the 5020L:
MAX POWER CONSUMPTION
• 8.64 W
So if you are recording to SD, streaming wirelessly, turning the camera all around, you might hit 8.64W.
The 942L power supply won't be able to do all that at once?!
It might work the other way, going from the 5020L to 942L. Of which I don't think you've mentioned which you are trying to use where....

There;s a big different between 5v and 12v. ::)
Honestly, why risk it. Use the correct power adapter for each model camera. If there are differences then you risk damage if you try to use a different adapter with different specs. Just sayin.
Power adapters can be found either online or ask D-Link for a replacement. Doesn't hurt to ask if you need one. ::)
