« on: May 21, 2010, 03:58:38 PM »

I cannot see the camera wireless. My router is DIR 655.

I connected my camera to my router using the network cable and I followed the steps from quick installation guide.

When I disconnect the cable I cannot see the camera wireless.

Please help me. Help me. Help me. I have a cable internet.

Thanks

Have you got other wireless connections, and do they work fine? Is the SSID visible over wireless on another client? Have you enabled wireless-G on the router (the DCS-5300G is a wireless-G-only device)?

When wired you could connect and use the camera?

Are you using the same 'family' of IP-addresses (so, for example, 192.168.0.x) for all clients?

Have you set the ip-address of the camera to a fixed address, or retrieve from DHCP out of the router?

If you look at the status-screens of the router, can you see the camera (if DHCP-allocated address) in the list of clients, or can you see the (fixed) ip-address in the list of active sessions?

These are just a few questions to follow when attempting to troubleshoot connectivity-issues...

All other laptops are working fine.
When wired I can use the camera. I think I am using the same family of IP adresses for all clients.

Camera IP address is probably retrieved out of the router.

I cannot see the camera on the status screen.

I think the problem is with the static and dynamic addresses.

The router is set for all types n,g,a,b.

Camera IP address is probably retrieved out of the router.

When you were wired, how did you configure the Wireless IP-address on the Camera itself? Fixed or Dynamic?

Here's a great website that shows how to forward ports for various routers and devices.

The 5300G is listed with several makes and models of routers!

http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Dlink/DIR-625/D-Link_DCS-5300G.htm

(This link is the one I used - 5300G and DIR-625)

Just look at your wireless router and see what's attached.  It'll tell you the IP address.  Or use the Installation Wizard that came with the camera.  Once you find the IP and go into the configuration, change to static IP and check off the box so it does NOT reset ip address on bootup.
