some apple product dropouts
« on: September 17, 2016, 12:18:04 PM »

Hello. It's strange that only the wifes mac pro and both iphone 6 and now her new iphone 7 drops out but mine and my sons
seems to be stable on or net. I have asked  FurryNutz before and he helped more than once:)  I'm not a proff with routers but
i'm close to take the jump for another brand, Asus, TP Link or other vendor but you guys in here are welcome to drop your 2 cents.
My iphone 6 and the sons can use the 5ghz band AC but it doesn't pop up one the wife wifi choice one her iphone but it shows on her
macbook pro?  The 868L firmware is running 1.09 and the 2.4 and 5ghz is ticked under wireless config. Security mode on both band are
wpa personal and the wpa mode is wpa only on both bands.

Please ask if you need more info.

Hi jangodoggy,

I'm also trying to troubleshoot a problem related to Apple and my 5GHz signal that mysteriously appeared three nights ago. In my case, I've had the 5GHz channel working smoothly for about 3 years until it disappeared on all our Apple devices. It became visible again just as surprisingly, except, the password was no longer being accepted. I'm still working on this and have already performed a hardware reset with no positive results. See post "Incorrect Password"

My question is to you is, on the devices where 5GHz is visible but not logging in - what error message on the device do you get when you attempt to log into the 5GHz? Have they performed any OS updates recently?

Is your setup default? Meaning it pretty much ran straight out of the box without much configuration tweaking?

Thanks.

By the way, also check the forum link from Encyclia talking about his 5GHz problems recently. Try his solution to see if it would work for you.

When I posted, it was the only post talking about a mysterious 5GHz problem - now there are three of us.

Hi well as i said my wifes new Iphone 7 doesn't show the AC 5 GHz wifi band under connetion options.
Not even wireless network name for the 5ghz appears on her IP 7. Mine and juniors
IP6 still have iOS 9 and not iOS 10. I did a factory reset on my 868L but that didn't make a difference.
Hope you can use the info even if it wasn't that much:)

What FW version are you currently using?  ???

Hi jangodoggy,

Thanks for the info. Your firmware was 1.09? Correct?

I just upgraded to 1.10 as the dlink techsupport suggested. There was no improvement to my original problem.

Just for the information of other people browsing this thread. My devices are running on iOS 8.1 and 9.2.

Wondering if there maybe a problem with iOS 10. I suppose I need to bring out my 868L and set it up as an AP and test.
I don't have any iOS devices as of yet. iOS 935 isn't available to me currnetly. I'm in the process of trying to figure out if I need to new phone or if the one I have can be fixed. It's on 921 currently.

Yes i'm on 1.09 on 868l so maybe i should upgrade to 1.10. I don't think iOS 10 causes the dropouts because it was the
same with iOS 9.3.5. Never the less other devices then Apple units works stable with my Synology nas and the 868L.
I will purchase another vendor next time going for a new router for sure:)

Thank's for your inputs.

Only thing I'm seeing and is odd is that my Mac Book and Thunderbird mail asks for my mail password when I launch the app when my Mac Book Pro 2007 and new iPhone 6sP is connected to the 868L. Also my DCS-933L won't auto connect to the2.4Ghz. I presume this maybe due to differences in security since there maybe older code underlying in FW version some of the newer model D-Link routers I've been testing. My mac is using 10.10.5 and iPhone is on 9.3.2.
I'm going to update to v1.10 and test again.
Overall maybe some incompatibilities in FW and newer devices.

Ok I found the problem with my email. My bad. Had lan cable connected to WAN port instead of LAN port for AP mode. Duh.  ::)

Ok so I updated back to v1.10 and set up both WiFi for Mixed G and N mode on 2.4ghz, manual channel 11 and WPA2 Personal with WPA2 only and Mixed TPIK and AES for now. Auto channel width. 5Ghz set for manual channel 48, Mixed N and AC and WPA2 Personal with WPA2 only and AES only. Co-Existence enabled for 2.4Ghz.

All my devices are connecting including the DCS-933L camera auto connected to prior used SSID names. Will run it as my primary AP and see how it goes.

868L still running good. Iphone 6sP (new) with iOS 9.3.5 loaded connects to 5Ghz fine when I get home. Mac Book Pro (2008) OSX 10.10.5 connects to 5Ghz as well. No disconnects reported from my 2 NESTs connected on 2.4ghz along with my DCS-933L.

Keep us posted.

Also update us with your wireless surroundings. Any neighbors? How many?
Also available to review your router settings too if needed.
