DMS 510 HDMI to DVI cable...
« on: October 31, 2008, 10:40:30 AM »

From reading these posts it sounds as if the DSM 510 supports HDCP which means I'll be stuck using composite to connect to my Plasma, it has DVI in and I have a HDMI to DVI cable.  The cable works fine for the TiVo and HD-DVD player.

Using and HDMI-DVI connector works in some cases although it is not a supported connection. This function does not work at all on the RevA1 hardware using the latest firmware.

Thanks for the reply, I guess I'll just have to wait and see if I get an a2 and if it works for me.

I have rev A2, firmware 1.08 and with the HDMI out connected to my older Philips monitor I get vertical bars that make it almost impossible to navigate the menus and would make video unwatchable.  I think I've tried every possible sequence of power on/standby combination.

In my experience with HDMI interface this is aberrant behaviour.  It either works correctly or the screen is black.
