RaLink 2860 Speed issues

I have weird speed issues when using any card with a RaLink 2860 chipset with my DIR-655 A4.

Two different brands of PCI N cards I have used have the same symptoms -
  • When using TKIP, Internet speeds are fast but LAN speeds suffer greatly.
  • When using AES, Internet speeds suffer but LAN speeds are semi-normal.

These cards work great and problem free with other routers I've tested (a new Buffalo, an Encore, and Rosewill N routers....Atheros and RaLink chipsets).  I've been using the bundled RaLink reference drivers, at least three different revisions, but the behavior is the same.

Anyone have similar experiences with this combination of hardware?
