Yes, this sound is normal for the transition from night vision to daylight mode.

Thanks - I'll put-away the cricket spray ::)

That clicking does get annoying during twilight and partially cloudy days when the light level hovers at the threshold between night and day modes. The DCS-932L incessantly flips between the two modes until the ambient light level stabilizes.

The DCS-932L firmware should have a setting to delay the day/night mode transition until the light level remains stable for a user defined number of seconds. This approach would resolve the mode changes that occur when clouds suppress the light level for a few seconds or during twilight when the ambient light level is hanging on the threshold of the DCS-932L's pre-defined day/night light levels.

My audio is very noisy even in the dark. It is almost unusable.

The DCS-932L also has a separate persistent audio crackling issue.

This thread is referring to the clicking noise generated from the DCS-932L hardware when the IR Illuminator switches on/off during the transition between day and night mode. The clicking is audible from the physical camera itself, and is unrelated to the reported "crackling sound" heard during audio captured from through microphone.
