Title: Cannot playback 2020 videos (RESOLVED)
Post by: RYAT3 on January 01, 2020, 03:25:59 PM
Looks like we need a f/w upgrade to allow more years in the dropdown as it stops in 2019, and hence feeding the wrong year back to the main page.

A quick turn around in this one to get it working would be nice. All systems affected.

Thank you

I can confirm the same issue with DNR-312L. I guess I don't need to post a new topic in the right board for it since you have already acknowledged the problem :)

I added the 312L to the support ticket.  Really not sure why they stopped at 2019.

WORK AROUND UPDATE WORK AROUND UPDATE WORK AROUND UPDATE :
[/size]

Change to January 2014 to get alignment of dates with days.

This will work until feb29.

Will have to find a day/year that aligns with March 1st after that.

Update 1 - Format the harddrive.  Or you will start deleting what you just recorded in 2014.  (ie, your old 2019 remains).
Update 2- my harddrive format failed! :( ugh
Update 3: My 4TB HD would not format in FAT32, had to switch to NTFS.  Now my 2014 recordings should not delete anymore.

Engineers have notified the vendors and hope to have this fixed shortly.

They have verified the issue with the DNR-202L, 312L, 322L (revB), and DNR-2020-04.  ::)

extreme bad programming here to cause this bug.    when will it be fixed?  and where will download link be posted.   the bug is in the hdd windows program and NOT in the 202l firmware.   proved by sniffing the web traffic and the web interface viewer is correct.

That sounds like a different problem, separate to the dnr202l  viewer application in the f/w

its the same issue

the windows hdd viewer is computing the year wrong as of 1-1-2020 and sending a web request to get year 2015 :(  rather than 2020.

the same dnr 202l with the web interface sends the correct  year to the web request.

you can user wireshark to sniff the ethernet packets and you will see what I tried to explain :)

I sent D-Link your image URLs to your images so please leave them up for about a week.

I do not believe the HDD software will need updating since it just pulls data from the NVR device. I did ask them to verify that.

my images show that the hdd software is where the bug is.   the hdd software is requesting the year 1-2004  when it should be asking for 1-2020

please run wireshark and see for yourself.

lets hope fix is asap and will you post the fix here? so that we can be notified.

Your image shows 2020 is not in the list.

2004 may be the default as opposed to null.

If you could select 2020, it would probably work.

I never used wireshark, but can you alter the parameter from 2004 to 2020?

Has this been resolved yet? I had an incident earlier this morning where something was stolen from the front of my property. I went to view my videos on HDD Viewer only to find I cant select 2020 as a year to view my files!! This needs to be resolved immediately, c'mon D-Link!

It's under review with D-LInk. NO time frame on when it will be fixed. Takes time to review and fixed problems. Doesn't happen over night unfortunately.

D-Link is the Mfr, They and other router Mfrs use 3rd party vendors for code packages that D-Link complies and puts in FW or SW. Same with HW. Router mfrs use different chip sets in there routers. Up to vendors and D-Link to make it work on HW platforms. D-Link used to do there own QoS code. Now It 3rd party I believe among other things.  ::) I wish router Mfrs would no rely on this as much as they have.  :-\

Well, I can confirm that the problem is not with the DNR-202L device. The problem is with the HDD Viewer Software.

As a temporary solution, I have manually changed all the dates on all my DNR-202L devices to 2019. This enables me to view the recordings in HDD Viewer, even though the dates are off by one day since we are in 2020. But better than nothing at this stage.

I'm still hoping for a speedy solution to this by D-Link as this is ridiculous that we are expected to use dated software with such a silly bug. However, I am already pricing up another system by either Swann or Reolink to replace this non-supported D-Link system if a solution is not found in regards to an update and proper working HDD Viewer software.

on the dnr-202l, when it's null, it does default to 2004 also. which is just as bad as passing null.

Things take time. They are in the process of making the beta "official". You have to realize it has to go through vendor/D-Link testing, then possible certification such as FCC, CE, and all the European, Asian, and Russian certifications since these products are global.

Press has nothing to do with it. Please be patient while D-Link works on it. This isn't the first time D-Link has had to correct a DATE issue. D-Link and other router mfrs are not perfect thus bugs seems to be a constant since we are a imperfect world.

So how does the firmware address the issue with the HDD Viewer software that many of us use to view our recorded videos?
Title: Re: Cannot playback 2020 videos
Post by: Jedi-77 on January 22, 2020, 03:38:57 AM
So I have tried the new firmware. And yes, I can now select dates in 2020. However, my recorded video is now incomplete as per my comments in the other post. Video that is recorded manually seems to work fine. But video that is recorded on motion detection is incomplete. The preview shows me that it should be a 3 or 4 minute clip, but only about 30sec to 1min of the actual video will play. This has always been a problem for me when using the DNR-202L and my outdoor DCS-2330L cameras. If I use anything beyond version 2.00 of the DNR-202L firmware, my videos do not play back properly.  There is obviously something wrong in these later firmware versions in regards to the DNR-202L and the DCS-2330L cameras that has not been resolved. My other camera on the other hand, a DCS-4802E seems to work fine. And yes, the DNR-202L was factory reset after the firmware installation and the DCS-2660L cameras are running the latest firmware. So how can this be resolved?

And back to my original question, when will the HDD Viewer software be fixed as that is not addressed with this firmware update.

the latest 202l firmware is flawed.

since installing it, roughly every 45 minutes, the 202l emits a loud long beep (the record light remains recording)......  i revert to the previous formware (the 2020 bug ) and no more beeps.   reinstall latest firmware and beeps again

Is the DNR set for automatic DHCP IP addressing or a static IP.
Using a 150 IP address range?

My system with 2 cameras, 1 24x8, the other 10 hours per day did this a couple times years ago. I can not find it in the log and it hasn't done it on the new F/W.
(usb powered ultra passport WD)

system 2 with previous f/w and only 2 caeras 24x7 has not done it that i can see iogs.
system 1 which resides next to system 2 and has 4 24x7 cameras and still on the old f/w has done as recently as 2/17.

maybe caermas at full quality and 24x7 are the problem.  I cannot tell from here which system 2or 3 has the WD ultra pssport or the full size external HD WD with power supply.

The power at home with 2&3 - I never get 5 volts when measuring what my devices are chargning at.

I did perform a factory reset from scratch since the beta Firmware update.  Nothing in my system logs to show why the beep occurs.  I have not had a long loud beep for the past 7 days though.  Seems to be a random occurrence so far.  My recording hdd is not full.  I use a WD MyPassport 2TB.  Have 2 DC-932LB cameras on 24 hour recording mode.

I am just reporting a problem that I have noticed with the new beta firmware for the DNR-202L and confirms what geetee2 has previously reported

I have also noticed that my system is being rebooted using the new Firmware.  It has also resulted in an occasional (once every few days) long loud beep from the using the new beta firmware.

I did perform a factory reset from scratch for the latest beta Firmware update and reformatted my recording HDD.  The problem seems to be a random occurrence so far.  I use a WD MyPassport Ultra 2TB for the recording HDD.  I have 2 DC-932LB cameras - one of them in 24 hour recording mode and the other recording about 12 hours/day.

My cameras do go offline occasionally - mainly due to my WiFi system, but my DNR-202L is never taken down.

My computer system and peripherals are on a battery backup system and there have been no power outages for several months

The system logs (below) for the past 2 weeks are showing a system watch-dog reboot.(code 64) which corresponds to the time the loud beep occurs from the DNR-202L.  I am not usually in the room with my computer and recording device when it occurs, but today at 2/21/2020 at 9:26:13 am local time the beep occured while I was on my computer.  It was a system reboot for the DNR-202L.  Also the system set to a new time a few seconds later.  I did not reset anything nor did I unmount and then remount the attached USB drive.  I did lose about 1 minute of recordings while the system went off line.  The system watch-dog reboot.(code 64) is a new error message that I have never seen before.  These anomalies just keep cropping up with the new beta firmware.  I did not have this problem using the old firmware.

Your assumption is wrong, because I had it on the previous ?2016? F/W and still do.

Also you should see that your TEXT goes all funny depending on the reboot.

Let's just say I starting noticing it with the new F/W.  Don't remember what Firmware I used previously.  I also upgraded my desktop computer over the past month or so and needed to reset the DNR-202L for it work properly.   As long as I know where the beep is coming from and I get an occasional system reset I can live with the issue

Users will need to contact D-Link support and let them know about what your seeing. As there's nothing else we can do here in the forums.

Would be nice to know if someone can do a factory reset to confirm the issue still happens. Would be "EMBARRASSING" if the problem was fixed by a reset.

Reply from the engineers regarding "watchdog" error and rebooting:

The code 64 is WebUI relative error report and could you confirm with the customer:

1. What browser do they use?

2. How many cameras have been managed by the DNR-202L? What Cameras are they using?

3. Do they set up DNR-202L to register Mydlink service?

4. Can they reproduce the issue every time?

PS: All our currently NVR is only support the IE 11 browser and the rest browsers are not working.

I use the following and have changed nothing in camera or HDD setting except updated to latest firmware
1.  Internet Explorer 11
2.  Cameras DCS-932L (2 cameras on my network)
      - 1 Camera records 24/7, other camera records for 12 hours/day
3.  DNR-202L is used to setup and register Mydlink service
4.  Issue is intermittment.  I sometimes have the code 64 WebUI report every few hours, sometimes not for a day or so.
5.  HDD used for recording is 2TB Passport Ultra that has been in use for 3 years without any problems until the updated firmware was installed then a consistent Code 64 error.
6.  Factory reset of DNR-202L then installation of new firmware

Does it only happen when streaming from the Dnr ?

My parents have it streaming all during the daytime, but I think I've seen reboots at night when no one is streaming.

I replaced my HDD Western Digital 2Tb My Paspsort Ultra with a a WD 4Tb MyBook 1280 (separate power unit) and I am still getting random Code 64 shutdowns.  DNR-202L is ok for several hours then a cluster of 3 shutdowns in an hour.  Seems that the problem is independent of the recording HDD.

Well I've put it on 3 dnr202ls, and they are all behaving the same way.  Only 1 is rebooting with watch dog 64 in the same  frequency as before, the other 2 are unaffected so far.

How about this- do you have motion detection set on any cameras? The one that reboots for me have motion detection on set in the 2 cameras, but a very small amount in the image is in red boxes.  Maybe that is the reason for lack of reboots comparatively with you and the other person. So I get the running man less often, and he might be the reason.

I have motion detection set for my 2 cameras.  One camera 24/7 and the camera set for 12 hours/day.  The Code 64 error is random sometimes 6/day and then 1/day and sometimes none.  The error doesn't coincide with the motion detection being triggered.

Yes, I'll agree motion detection doesnt happen with watchdog 64.

I'll turn on motion detection on the other 2 boxes I have and see if it starts.

My system config has not changed for YEARS, i have motion detection on 1 camera.  no reboots on previous version of FW.   Upgrade to lastest FW and reboots happen.

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since the last FW update? This should be performed.

Got a reply asking more questions about the USB drives and if anyone can use a thumb drive and see if the reboots happen (post the log). Not entirely sure why that would matter since drives have been changed and same behavior is happening.

I understand the vendor/engineers need more data to figure out what is happening since this is not a highly reported issue. You 3 are the only ones in the US who have reported reboots with the new firmware. I will find out if anything else was changed. Possibly the mydlink agent was updated and is causing the issue with older cameras with an older mydlink agent - thus asking what cameras and firmware are being used.

Questions:

1. Could you also ask the customer to use any other USB memory stick to replace the current HDD and see if the reboot issue would not happen again?

2. If using the memory stick and the problem still persists and could you download each log of the DNR-202L (it has 3 different type of logs) and forward to me?

I will try a usb thumb drive and will report back in about 2-3 days with logs etc.

Okay, all 3 misbehaving systems cameras with motion detections set up.

Good to know

it is very easy for dlink eng to fix the issue.   they know what in their code they changed to fix the 2020 bug and remving it, stops the  reboots.   they just need to read their code or perhaps they should open source it and then we (I) can fix it!

This thread has gone off the rails and since the original problems has been fixed. We are closing this thread.

For the random reboot issue thats happening for those if you, please continue to post about this here:
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=75417.0 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=75417.0)

Users will have to be patient and wait for D-Link to correct the random reboot watchdog issue.

Good Luck.

I love assumptions... This product was discontinued years ago so it is not the number 1 priority. Not every user with the beta firmware is experiencing this issue. You 3 are the only ones in the US that have reported it. If the engineers/vendor cannot replicate the issue, it makes it difficult to fix. Right?  I understand your frustration. We are all frustrated about this since having the date stop at 2019 is mind-boggling. They are working on the issue, trying to figure out what is wrong.

We appreciate the info you all have sent and hopefully will help them narrow down the issue.

Please post here for reboot issues --> http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=75417.0 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=75417.0)

Professor, did you try using a thumb drive by any chance?
